Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

The idea to export contacts from Outlook and import them to google contacts is really great. But you see, the only reason to actually use Outlook is to sync my privat contacts which are only stored in my phones to a central place and this place is an Outlook install that sits in my appartment where it hopefully is safe. You see in Germany we have something called "Datenschutz". I am not sure whether this word actually exists in English because English speaking countries do not seem to be that much worried about this issue. Anyway in Germany personal information, i.e. this is information that you have about other people like names, phone numbers, and addresses and all this stuff, is considered private and it is NOT adeqaute to send such information to countries where concepts like "Datenschutz" are basically not know. Therefore, to send this information to Google is a NO GO. However, Kies does not seem to support any other local storage of Contact-Information than Outlook and this is why it is so terribly dissappointing that this thing does not work. What is really unbelievable is that I have on my desktop Kies 2.6 and Kies 3.2 running. While 2.6 happily sncy the contacts of my Galaxy Tab, Kies 3.2 keeps complaining that Outlook does not sem to be the standard mail client and all this ****. I do not have to stress that Kies 2.6 refuses to work with an S3 after the update to Android 4.3. Hey, guys from SAMSUNG you knew in the past how this should work. Why did you forget about it? Did you sack the only programmer who knew how this could be done? Just look at the code in Kies 2.6 and use it again, at least what the connection to Outlook concerns. Is this really so difficult????

Would really love to hear what answers one would get from sales staff managing the Samsung booth at CES if they were asked when Samsung intend resolving this KIES problem. So far Samsung seem quite unconcerned about the situation as they don't seem to make any official comment about it at all.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I have been reading this for months now and have not chimed in until now.

I am unfortunately on a Mac and the latest Mac version is still 3.0 with no sync functionality.

I would be embarrassed to work at Samsung and face this debacle. I would be further embarrassed if my company arrogantly refused to acknowledge the issue.

Someone earlier said that this surely is a breech of contract, in one form or another. In South Africa, we have what is called The Consumer Protection Act and I intend to pursue a full refund, due to Samsung changing the scope of the phone that I purchased.

If nothing else, it will get Samsung some much needed bad publicity and exposure. Future prospective clients should be aware of how this company operates. The are the definition of unethical.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

Who else is getting the sync error message "outlook is not you default mail" ???

Note 3. Android 4.3 kies 3. Outlook 2010

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

My problem is that Kies synchronising with Outlook also stopped working after I upgraded my S4 to Android 4.3. I also searched around on the web and found that "everyone" was experiencing the same problem. I contacted our local Samsung people here in South Africa, but they were no much use. I waited and then did find an update for Kies (I'm now running 3.2.13114_22). And that seemed to work fine, for a while. Now, my contacts are still synchronising fine, and quickly. But my calendar won't.

Regarding the post from Steve. My .OST file is in the usual place (C:\Users\"YOUR NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" folder), but my .PST file is already in C:\Users\"YOUR NAME\My Documents\My Email folder.

I guess I'm just going to sit tight and see if Samsung get their @rses into gear.

I was going to try it, but each download wants another one. I don't want all that cruft, I just want to sync.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

Graham,
I am having this same problem now in Jan 2014. Do you know if a solution was ever made?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

In case Samsung is reading this, I'd like to request that you keep the date for which you wish to begin syncing calendar events as I keep all my important history events in my home computer and only wish to sync future events. Oh and hurry up!

We wish they were reading this! It obvious they don't care. I miss my iPhone that never had these issues... Such a shame. If the worked well it would be amazing.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

issue is now resolved with version 3.2.14013_45 released on 28/01/2014

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I've just had a quick look at the new release, but I am not yet brave enough to perform an actual synchronisation.

My first impression is that it looks as though both 2-way and 1-way synchronisation is now supported for "Contacts", but that "Calendar" and "Tasks" still only supports 2-way synchronisation.

Graham.

Thought it was good news but not so! Downloaded Kies upgrade and tried 4 times to sync my Outlook calendar but received error message every time. Won't go past 15%. Interested to hear what others have found so far.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I checked and have the new version 3.2.1403_45 but am getting an error message. Seems that the issues are not resolved. I think I now need to pay for a 3rd party app. Can anyone make recommendations? Most important to me is being able to sync calendar for future events only...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I have downloaded and installed latest version, sync appears fine with contacts however none of my Outlook calender has synced with s Planner the app on my S4 or am I looking in the wrong place.

Also why can I not access contacts on the phone in the Kies software. I remember being able to edit on the pc my contacts on the phone. Easier than editing them on the phone.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I have just done my first sync with the new Kies and new firmware in an S4. Sync worked OK but it is way less functional. e.g. no restriction on the date range for tasks, no option to sync automatically. All these problems in new "smart" phones - all worked better with my old HTC touch HD or my wife's Samsung A414 and PC Studio.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Kies Sync Problems after Latest firmware updates! "unsupported device alert"

I just finally was able to sync my S4 to my Outlook Calendar. I was being blocked and received the same error messages. When I tried this it worked.
1. Choose all calendars (or a specific)
2. Press refresh if only a specific calendar
3. Press Sync
4. Go to Tools
5. Choose Preferences
6. Choose Device
7. Choose Schedule
8. Initialise syncing log

I hope it also works for you!
