Samsung Galaxy S4 - samsung knox for private/business use

Dears
since the update to 4.3 I have the possibility to activate Knox, however I'm still trying to figure out what the advantages/disadvantages are for mostly personal use

I also get the notification that an application is trying to access my system and that it has been stopped, I already know that this is a knox related issue.

please advice

It always does that... I can't even clear cache anymore from Settings > Storage because Knox keeps blocking the process. It's so annoying. I wish Samsung didn't force this on me.

As I understand it just from looking around on the phone after the 4.3 update, that update installed certain Knox components to the phone, but did not actually install the main Knox program. In the app tray there is now a Knox shortcut (its icon has a little curving arrow at the bottom left). Tapping that takes you to an information screen with an Install button. Don't tap that button! I believe that it is what would put the main Knox program on your phone. My advice (just from having done this myself, and decided not to install Knox) would be to read the information on that screen and look online at what Knox users are experiencing, and be certain whether or not you want to do this to your phone.

Based on what I read on that screen, it sounds like Knox works similarly to a "virtual machine" on a Windows computer. The information screen indicates that inside the "Samsung KNOX container" you're in "another private mobile," and in that space "there may be restrictions on moving data into and out of [the] container and some applications may have their features restricted."

I have yet to read of any actual benefits from Knox. Of course, all I'm reading are gripes on these forums. I'd also recommend looking at this thread on the Verizon S4 user forum: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/809366, particularly the detailed experience reported by LadyRelm2.

It gives you a secure container (like a virtual sandbox from Windows) to store things you wouldn't want to be hacked. As to what files those are, I wouldn't know. (I hope no one is thinking of using the container to store naked photos or porn.)

I would laugh if anyone used Knox to store porn... I digress. So when I received the 4.3 update on my S4 I did install that Knox app just to see what it was. I have to say Knox doesn't impress me but only annoy me. I think Samsung should have left it optional to have it on the device. Even if the app isnt installed (there is an icon for it but it tells you to install the actual app) It still causes problems for users. For example if your the person that likes to install custom ROMs and tinker with the device, Knox makes that harder because the device has a secure bootloader. And once you are able to crack it that red flags your device to Samsung and automatically voids your warranty.
Additionally I just can't imagine any person wanting to use Knox because its functionality seems limited at this time.

That automatic voiding of the warranty is what disturbs me the most. I am not really the kind of person who likes dabbling in custom ROMs right away but the fact is some apps can only be used when a phone is rooted... And I might have been interested in trying out a Cyanogenmod ROM for a change. I will now never know, I guess because of that bloody KNOX flag.

I have installed Knox and personally I find it to be the only good feature added on 4.3
I have moved my work related email in the knox area. Now all work related emails, docs, appointments will be in that area, and won't mix in with the other area. It's simple enough to switch back and forth between personal and work now.
To have this feature for free is nice. Not like the blackberry balance feature which requires you to have the BES activated on your device.

After the 4.3 update, I took a look at this app and decided not to install it after reading the majority of posts here. I don't want to risk voiding my warranty! This phone wasn't cheap (I bought it outright) and I plan to use it for a fairly long time. Whilst I do like the concept of having a virtual machine, I can do that with either my desktop, laptop, or tablet. Why would I want it here as well? My motto has always been "if it works, don't try to fix it!" since having some rather nasty experiences back when I was very na?ve in the technical area. Until I see very definitive evidence that KNOX will be something I can't live without, I will leave things as they are.
