Samsung Galaxy S6 The headphone port has finally moved to the bottom

Re: One feature new to the Galaxy S6 model that no one is talking about

Smh. All I was asking was since the microphone is 1/4 of a inch from the speaker or less, if you talk to someone on speakerphone, if they will hear themselves more than us.

SMH. And you have been repeatedly informed of the answer.
The question now is, can you accept it?

I have an iPhone 6 + with this setup -- The answer is no. My GF mainly talks on speaker .. when talking I hear myself at the start for .. 0.2 sec and it kicks in the cancellation .. after that .. I don't hear myself anymore.

Ok thank you for your help.

Re: One feature new to the Galaxy S6 model that no one is talking about

The next iteration needs a external speaker at the top.

The next iteration needs a external speaker at the top.

The reason it is on the bottom is so that the sound bounces off the bottom of your palm on your hand. If placed at the top it will not bounce on anything if held in your hand and thus be lower in volume.

On the S4 and the S5 the speaker was on the lower back so it too can bounce off your hands but was bad if placed on your bed. On the S3 the speaker was at the rear top by the camera and thus bounced off of nothing and got bad reviews because of this. The S6 solves this problem by having it on the bottom.

Regardless, nothing beats front firing speakers. Maybe one day Samsung will learn.

I'm thinking that if there were an external speaker at the top and leave the one at the bottom. That way you get stereo speakers without looking too much like the M9. Maybe Samsung could partner with Bose and still have just the external speaker at the bottom. Just trying to think of a way to get great sound.

In that case, top and bottom is better even without Bose. It can't be that hard to implement, it's just important that Samsung hears this from its fans.
Twitter is your friend in this, and an email to some phone websites are in order.

If you can convince editors of android websites, then they will repeat how the best smartphone today still has the worst sound on Android. Just think what the S7 will be like if they cheapen out and just do what is on the nexus 6 or do as you say and add a speaker on the top.

That is an awesome idea and I'm glad that I'm not the only one who wishes for this.

Big difference but what do I know.
obviously there are enough differentiation factors, especially on s6 Edge. And AFAIK, apple didn't patent a metal side with a bit curve.

Still, I can't help but wondering, why didn't sammy simply use Note 4's design for the side?

If you want great sound you'll have to attach a pair of these to your phone:

Funny. BT connectivity to my vehicle with 12 speakers is better.

If you want great sound, this is actually what you need:

My original title of this thread was

"Here is one feature of the galaxy S6 no one is talking about"

Now it has changed to

"Samsung Galaxy S6 headphone port has finally moved to the bottom"

LOL

Re: One feature new to the Galaxy S6 model that no one is talking about

Personally it is a complete pain in the proverbial. If I put my phone in a pocket it's a breast pocket rightway up or in my bag rightway up so having the jack at the top is the only answer for it to be used not just the most logical. Putting your phone in something upside down seems just plain odd to me. As does putting it in a back pocket where it is vulnerable to theft from pickpockets, breakage (ie if you sit on it) and just plain uncomfortable.

Also, when not using earphones I have a dust plug in the socket and this now just looks plain weird as well as stopping the phone standing straight in an upright position and means that having a pretty dangly thing on the end of it is not possible anymore so aestetically it is annoying!

However saying all that I do still love my S6 so I just forgo using wired earphones (I listen to music at home on speaker), but this means that I am missing out on a major function of my device until such time I spend more money on wireless earphones...
