I joined this site to find out more about this tablet. From what I've read they are hoping to make competitive sales with Apple's iPad. If they've priced it like you guys are saying they have, that won't happen. I can buy a nice netbook for that kind of money.

Not official, but as worth paying attention to as any other rumour. People saying that they've seen the same high price point over the whole internet so it must be true forget how rumours work. One guy passes something to someone else and it just goes on and on, and without anyone else saying anything else, everyone publishes the same thing.
The price off contract basically doesn't matter. Its a smartphone device, and people will buy it on contract or won't bother buying at all. The pricing off contract for all devices is something that doesn't translate well. In Britain, unless you're buying an iPhone, you never pay for a device when you upgrade or start a new contract. List price of my SGS, over ?500, price I paid, zero. So, yeah, I'm expecting to see a ?200ish price point with a contract.

The Archos tablets are all cheaper than the Cruz Tablet! Waiting on processor info from Velocity Micro but I can't see how the Cruz Tablet is worth it here. I have a Borders Rewards Plus that gives me 10% off but I think the Archos wins in specs all around. I am so tired of seeing people say that they do not want an additional contract for the Tab. If you don't want another contract... then don't get another contract!
Right now I have a phone and I am eligible for upgrade, so here is what I plan to do. I will upgrade to the Tab and renew my contract. The end. This device can make and receive calls, so it's not like you need a phone + Tab. 7 inches is still quite portable... in the winter I can carry it in my coat pocket, in the summer it will fit in my cargo shorts pocket.
So... what if you want something more portable for your phone useage? I plan to use my old phone for the rare situations where I might not feel like lugging my Tab around... just swap the sim out. This is just not a big deal at all.
Another thing that is getting old is the complaining about price. First of all, you are whining about rumored pricing. Another thing is, the Tab is better than an IPad in so many ways. It has front and rear cameras, pixel density is better, has better graphics processing, you can add your own memory card, wide screen format, more portable, and phone capabilities. It's all geek stuff, but like it or not, the technology is what drives the cost of production. To be fair, the IPad has advantages too, such as larger screen, and more optimized apps for tablet useage... but that's really it.
Basically, the Tab is a Mercedes, and the IPad is more like a Ford Taurus... yet people actually expect to pay half the money for the Tab... LOL!!!

Yes you do. Until the wifi-only version comes out. contact is needed for 3g version.
i really don't think so. you can get just about any product that any carry sells without a contract. purchasing with a contract just gets you a discount because of the carrier subsidy.
I can see myself dumping the Evo, and going old school with a flip phone, and this tablet. That all depends on the price of it, and data plan...
I'm almost positive I've seen reports of it being upgradeable to Gingerbread 3.0, but I'm not completely sure.
heh folks , just collected my tab last night , below are some pics , by the way i am staying in bangkok, its already launch here.
it works fine , just a note for those peeps that wants to get this tab for facebook flash games
its through that the tab supports flash but flash games on facebook doesnt work, it loads but you cant navigate the controls
