Samsung GS7edge - Verizon Users Thread

Is it really that great of a deal or not. I see many conflicting things

Depends -- You have to play with the numbers. I am on T-Mobile and have a grandfathered plan but my situation may be changing (adding a buddy or two) and swapping to VZW is a very likely possibility.

We won't be getting nougat until the S8 comes out is my guess. At that point I won't care anymore cause I'll be upgrading lol

Both S7 Edge and Pixel XL are great phones. I don't think you can pick a winner. For me, I have the Coral Blue and my phone have no case on it at home and at work. The 5.5 inch profile and design is amazing. Hands down the best looking phone on the market. Add to that SD card, water resistant, amazing camera, amazing screen, wireless charging and a fluid enough phone (yes I know not as good as Pixel XL) and you got yourself a good complete package.

Those are the same reasons why I'm using the blue coral S7 edge instead of the Pixel XL. The hardware on the S7 edge is so much better than the Pixel's hardware. I love the wireless charging, the IP68 rating, the camera, the microSD card slot, and I love how pretty my blue coral S7 edge is compared to everything else out there. It makes me miss my blue coral Note 7. Sigh.

I will be moving over to the Unlimited from Grandfathered Unlimited.

With Veterans Discount (My Wife) we will save about $50. We have 4 lines 3 on unlimited 2 of those don't even get close to the 22 GB limit. My other line will now have unlimited (22 GB) and we will get unlimited calling as well. In June we will save another $20 as one line falls off contract then another $20 in October this year and March of next year. Going forward you will not be able to purchase a phone using 2 year contracts (verified) or payment plan (someone told me this, I have not verified yet). I want to start using the payment plan, pay off 50% of my device and upgrade every 12 months when the new Sammy S plus or Note comes out.

My line is the only one that may get throttled, because at lunch at work I am lazy and stay in my office and use my hotspot tethered to my computer instead of going to the break room and using free Wifi to watch a show on my tablet.

Yep. I may be swapping from T-Mobile to Verizon soon. I work for the military so I can take advantage of the discount as well :).

Also remember the throttle is only in congestion so it isn't a 100% thing.

My guess is it'll always be dependent on which tower you're on and the demand so there's no way to really tell for sure.

I am curious how much throttling they will actually do...

Depends how congested the area is. If it isn't too often it should be fine. They even tried to stress that it would be rare (I assume in big places like NYC where there are just mass amounts of people).

One of my co-workers just told me that they are getting rid of the 12 and 16GB data tiers, forcing you to either get by with only 8GB or buying the expensive Unlimited option.

That kind of torques me off, considering I only just bought into this provider.

Yeah you can see that now. Here is their site with the plan options.

Well, we will see what usage I'd come spring, when my wife goes on her first camping trip... We might be able to live on 8GB, but I won't switch away from 12GB until I know that for sure.

I'm on a single line grandfathered plan from Verizon too. Wondering if I should switch over and save about $50......

They are also getting rid of the corporate/government discounts for the unlimited tier.

This is a giant kick in the nuts to me - no reason to even have a corporate discount anymore. I'll stick to my 12gb plan with 12gb bonus from fios until they give me something worthwhile switching to. I also hate the preferred pricing for 4 lines - I have 3 lines and I get the shaft because of it.
