Samsung Notes backward compatibility Note 8 with Tab 3

I have a tab 3 with S pen and have been using Samsung notes for quite some time (and s-note etc...on previous devices) I just got my note 8 and it reads all of the files from my S-3 just fine. Any note taken on the 8 though does not work with the S-3.

I end up with a locked note, and then when I try to unlock it I end up getting a message that I need an update......so I try to update and I am told my device and country are no longer supported......one year old tab in the US and I am not supported? Why oh why does Samsung build great tools and then not allow them to talk time and time again.

Any thoughts

Temp solution might be to export the notes from the Note 8 to Evernote or OneNote to allow editing on the Tab S3.

Quick question, does the S-Pen from the S3 work on the Note 8? or the other way around.

Thanks, I do have that work around and use OneNote for some of my more complex files and notes. Hopefully this is only temporary.

To your question, yes the styluses are interchangeable. (S-pen) and from my limited time testing them, it appears that all of the functionality is there.

Thank you for your reply, I was considering upgrading from my Tab S2, I miss having the s-pen option that I had way back with my Note 10.1 tablet.

I found a way to get copies of S-Note that would have been on the 10.1 on mirror ATK. I am not a tech guy by any means and downloaded it to my tablet and phone and believe it or not my windows 10 pc and it communicates to all.

Love it for simple notes, still use onenote for the more robust info.
