Poor Samsung, if they release this unlocked version after all there probably won't be many takers. What would be the point!
Kind of makes me think that it serves them right for caving to Verizon's whims and releasing the only GS3 with an encrypted bootloader in the first place.
But then again, they were going to try to make it a little better by making the developer edition available to those that wanted an unlocked SG3 on Verizon. So yeah, I guess I do feel a little bad for them. Not.![]()
It appears that the rooting process and phone locking mechanism is somewhat different then my thunderbolt. I have unlimited data and am going to pay full price either way for an S3
Questions:
1. Any advantage to owning a dev edition versus just buying a locked model and unlocking?
2. If I unlock a locked phone I void warranty, if I unlock dev model do I still void warranty?
3. I have heard there is a bit of SW on the device that registers if the phone is unlocked for any reason?
3. What am I missing?
