Samsung pay-inconsistent results

I use Samsung Pay nearly every workday at different Subway restaurants around town. But I would guess it only works about half the time. The other half I'll get a check mark on my Note 8 but the pin pad terminal freezes. Any hints on how to get consistent results?
 
I'm not sure if it has anything to do but if I just put the phone close to where you swipe the card most of the times I get card error but if I move the phone from. top to bottom slowly and then put it away like if I was actually swiping a card it processes
 
Good Advice. Lowes almost always takes 3 times to process. it used to bother me, but now it gets more people thinking I cantuse it. Then it works, and the d
folks with Applepay are salivating to use it. I chuckle out the door.
 
Samsung pay has always worked pretty consistently for me. I noticed a slight improvement from the S7 to the S8, but it seems to work exceptionally well with the Note 8. I used it three times today and in each case the store clerk made the comment that they had never seen it work that quickly.

All that being said, I have a subway by me that I have always struggled to get it to work at. I have not been there with the Note 8, I'll have to try this week.
