Samsung Pay Start Charging CC Companies

Does Google charge companies to use Google Pay? If not, then I wonder if companies would shift to Googly Pay from Samsung Pay since all folks who have Samsung Pay would have the ability to use Google Pay. However, I find it hard to believe that Google Pay doesn't charge.

I use Samsung Pay almost exclusively and avoid using my physical cards wherever possible. My physical cards are mostly used only at higher end restaurants where you give them the card, but other than that - I really try to use Samsung Pay all the time. I have had my cards skimmed in the past before knowing how prevalent (and also often easy to spot) it was. It also makes my wallet much lighter since some of these cards are made of metal!

That said, Samsung Pay has been lessening or removing much of the benefits for the consumer (us) to use Samsung Pay for the last few years so switching to Google Pay wouldn't seem like a huge deal to me if I was forced to. I think Samsung made a lot of incentives to attract banks to support Samsung Pay to boost their contactless payment up but I feel that Samsung has recently felt that they don't need to incentivize anyone anymore to use it. Well, for me - I'm going where the option is best for me. I like Samsung Pay, but by no means married to it. If banks stop supporting it it's c ya later Samsung Pay!

I wouldn't be supprised if Google offered it's payment service for "free"... think of all the delicious data they get to scoop by being a payment service in the centre of the transaction.

It totally blows my mind that Americans are completely happy to let a stranger wander off with their card.

If every restaurant had portable contactless payment machines they can bring to your table, I would rather than, but unfortunately it's often not the case and you don't have a choice here. I only seem to see them at places like chain restaurants, etc. I try to never use my physical cards if I don't need to.
