Samsung Push Service - what is this?

I followed the instructions from Dog5000, to find I don't have an icon for Samsung Push Services. I only have icons for Samsung Print Service Plugin, and Samsung Account. Anybody? Go!

Then it's possible u don't have the push service ..if ur not seeing the icon with ur other apps. Make sure ur looking in 'settings' , then click 'app manager ' . :-)

This is very interesting...in that I have been struggling for MONTHS with my S3 getting very very hot and battery draining literally in minutes! I have ready many different things and tried them all to no avail. Last night I saw the battery going down yet again and went to my battery information and saw this Push app up to 25% battery. I am wondering if I disable it if this would help. I am at a loss as to the drain and heat that comes off my phone. I can have it charged at 100%, pull the plug and within minutes it is down to 70% or less. And very hot. I have tried the full boot this past weekend hoping that would help. NOPE! So frustrated. Love my phone but not lately!

Hey just curious, do you have an sd card ? I had the same problem, and was worried i was going to lose all my photos if the battery got to hot. I pulled the sd card, plugged it into my laptop. The laptop wanted to scan the new drive i said yes... sure as sh!t, there was malware on my sd . The computer cleaned and i reinserted, and not a problem since.

SpookDroid...Dude, you're awesome. People like you give me hope that we (humans) might have a chance. Thank you for your patience, manners, honesty and knowledge.

SpookDroid

Wow, that was a GOOD explanation! I learned something from it (quite a bit, in fact.) This place is awsome; I like to read even if I don't have problems with my device(es).... Thank you very much.

I only wish I had 10% of your grace in that response, SpookDroid. My hat's off to you, and perhaps it'll make me think twice before I contribute to the lack of civility online.

I have a rooted Note 4, and have used App Freezer for other apps that hog the battery like Facebook. Unfortunately, App Freezer doesn't see it. I'll try freezing with Titanium Pro next.

Update: that did the job. Take that with ya, Samsung bloatware...;)

Hi there. When I try to disable push notifications, it says " if you disable a built-in app, this may cause problems with other apps.Your data will also be deleted." So I said ok and the next message I got is " do you want to replace this app with the factory version?. ok or cancel are my options.

brilliant, that was the most useful answer I've ever read on a forum! Just got a new phone and never know what half the apps are for and dread deleting them or disabling, in case other stuff doesn't work! thanks chick and merry Chrimble!

What a perfect explanation for challenged individuals like me. Thanks much! Disabled it on my S2 Galaxy but wish it would stay disabled. I should not shut down my phone at night LOL:D

In case anyone who finds this page still wants the answer to this question, it's "OK."

This question is asking if you want to uninstall updates to the app before disabling it. If you're not planning to re-enable the app, then you want to uninstall updates to recover some storage space.
