True... I always wondered the purpose of the A series but I assumed it was a lower cost open. That said, the A versions seem to get so little press that I wonder if many folks know about it in the US.
I read or heard a news story somewhere that the A line is Samsungs best selling line by far world wide, especially the mid-range and lower end. That's probably why we heard the rumor that Sammy might drop the top end A line model. The Ultra and Fold series were the lowest selling... with the Flip series being one of the best selling flagship priced phones. It makes sense, here in the forums we're phone fanatics, so we tend to buy the higher end stuff, but regular folks who don't have the extra money, and aren't fanatics like us, are going to buy the cheaper phones that still get the job done.
In India, with it's population of over a billion, the A line phones seem to be everywhere.
I do see why Sammy would want to drop the phone models that are in the no-mans land price wise, they have too many models to maintain currently. Might as well trim things down some, plus they might be able to push some sales into the next model up
