I don't trust Facebook, Craigslist, or eBay for buying phones or other electronics. The only sites I trust are the manufacturer's, Best Buy, or Swappa.

EBay is only as good as the seller you're buying from. We've sold some of our old phones over the years, but my wife has been a seller since around 2000.I agree with you

You have to pay attention to the seller ratings, the feedback, and really pay attention to what the feedback actually says and if there were responses. Some buyers like to complain just to complain, and after a while, you can spot those kinds of complaints from legit issues.
You can be more forgiving with older devices. But for brand new devices, that's when you really look at the seller ratings and history.
I don't think Facebook or Craigslist has that kind of thing to look back on for sellers.
