Last night/this morning my phone ran out of battery, I charged it, turned it on and it will not load past the Samsung logo screen with the blue LED light flashing. I am just about able to get it into recovery mode but I have no experience playing around with phones in this way so not sure what to do. I do not have a custom ROM or anything like that. It wasn't dropped and it was working fine previous to this. I have tried changing the battery and removing the SD card.

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can fix this or even what the problem may be? I cannot seem to find anything similar to this in any of the forums.

Thank you

Gus

Gus,
Is the battery at least 50% charged?
If you're unsure, pull the battery for a couple of minutes, reinstall it and (without trying to turn it on) connect a charger. You should see a battery graphic showing the current charge level.

If clearing the system cache in Recovery mode doesn't help you can try a Factory data reset (also in Recovery mode) - of course, you'll lose any information on the phone except for what you have synced with Google.

If the Factory data reset doesn't work then you'll have to try reloading the firmware using the Kies software on your PC. Let us know if it comes down to that and we'll help you out.

So how do i reload the firmware on kies air? My phones about 8 months old and i just wanna get it fixed

Note that you cannot reload the firmware using Kies Air - you must use the Kies software on your PC, with the phone directly connected via USB. Here's an overview of what to do:
- if you don't already have the Kies software installed on your PC, download it (just search Google) and install it. The first time it runs it'll update itself to the latest version so make sure you run it once before proceeding.
- put your phone in Download mode: with the phone completely off, press and hold the Volume Down and Home and Power buttons simultaneously, and release them all when you see the Samsung splash screen
- connect the phone to your PC with the USB cable that came with the phone
-- if you've never had the phone connected to your Windows-based computer before, you'll see messages about installing drivers, etc - just wait until this is done (may take 5 or 10 minutes) [I don't know what happens if you have a Mac - it probably just works]
- in the Kies software, select the second item in the Tools menu and just follow the prompts to enter the model number (in CAPS) and IMEI/Serial Number (both found under the battery - it's ok to remove the battery at this point)
- the Kies software should start downloading the correct firmware for your phone from the Internet; once that's done (depending on your Internet connection speed) it'll begin downloading that to the phone (this probably takes 10 minutes or so)

You may want to take a look at http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=299756
as well. If you don't have valuable information on there then perhaps booting into Recovery mode, if it works, and performing a Factory Reset might do it for you.

Hi there,
i have the same problem, but have followed the helpful instructions given about downloading Firmware via Kies on my PC (as I have already restored to factory settings via recovery mode and it has not helped: i am still stuck on the Samsung logo).
however, in Kies, Tools - Firmware upgrade and initialisation, after successfully entering model number and serial number, and then ticking the box for "I have read all of the above information", the button for 'Start upgrade' is greyed out so I can't click on it (I can only click on Cancel, which I have done once, and entered all the information again).
Can you advise what i need to do to start the Upgrade?
Thanks!

I have the same problem like Gus.I press power button and samsung logo appears and the it starts to vibrate maby one second and then blue LED is on ,then 4G LTE verzion logo appears. In this stage he can be all day.

I have the same problem like Gus.
Have you tried any of the suggestions in this thread?
When did your problem start - during a firmware update?
What model/carrier/region?
Did the phone already receive the 4.3 OTA?

Welcome to the forums!
ive tried the kies thing and that didnt work
If Kies didn't work for you then your other option is to reload the firmware manually using a tool called Odin (just Google it - look for v3.07; find a source on XDA) to load the firmware, which you can find here - select your device in the drop-down list in the upper left corner and download the latest version. Instructions on how to use Odin can be found here.

Sorry if it is too late to reply here, I have the same problem.

When I try to clear partition cache, it gives me huge amounts of text in red, mostly saying that it cannot find recovery files/ cache files, etc. So I need help and I don't want to lose data I have on the phone.

Any help would be really appreciated.

PS - I tried Odin and Kies, not working

Went to the service center, they tried to put in their software, but did not work (yeah, service centers)

If I am not able to ressurrect my beloved S3, I would at least want to recover the data somehow. If that could be done, I appreciate it as well

Thanks!
