Samsung S5 now will not charge unless it is off.HELP!! What can I do?

Samsung s5 now will not charge unless it is off..HELP!!

For some strange reason my phone wont charge it off and when it is off it flashes on and off with the lightning and battery size to charge meaning it takes forever to charge. 5 hours of charge off and its only on 50% and then the battery dies within 2 hours when switched back on. Super annoying. Does any one know if its the phone or just need of a new battery. Please Help, Would like to know before I take it to the shop and probably get charged an arm and a leg. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! It could be the phone, the charger, the charging port, or the motherboard. First, try a different charging cable/plug. If that doesn't help, try a new or different battery. If that doesn't help, then you'll have to bring it to a repair shop or Samsung service center.

Also, try vacuuming out your USB 3.0 port!

I had the same problem a few months ago, and actually called Samsung support about it. They recommended a factory reset, which I had been trying to avoid -- but it fixed the problem for me.
