Samsung s7 edge - constantly running out of internal storage, videos go to internal randomly, not sd

I have an s7 edge 32gb with an external sd card installed and android 7 (actually 2 phones similar issues on both)..

Constantly we run out of space on the internal.. very few apps installed as well

In my case apps shows 22.96 used (but when i use cccleaner and view, that total inside shows 18 or so)..
I only have about 4 apps larger than 300MB though yes, i do have 300 apps installed (a lot haha, mostly small tools)..

Videos shows 2.89gb and pics 2.26 to internal.. i have photos and vids set to goto SD card which they appear to do so, mostly.

When i drill into these though, i can see some that ended up internal.

Cache wise i have around 900MB i could clear (i wish this could be automated).

Any thoughts on space here or why videos/pics seem to randomly end up on the internal memory..

Keep debating to go for an s8 64GB to avoid this, but something tells me we may end up in the same boat over time even on that platform.

I found one thing out.. i removed the sd card.. suddenly i had around 5GB more free space.. it seems it was classifying the sd stored photos and pics as local storage.. maybe a remnant of adoptable storage from before, though i thought i had wiped the phone at one point?
