Samsung Stratosphere

We can't decide about the features and outlook of the device until we received the Gadget. From the news I've came to know that it probably won't launch in August.

The new Samalangadingdong!

I agree, the folks in Marketing need to get a little more imaginative. Either that, or it's a case of executive managers choosing the names (and shoving them the line down as writ).

I think i would get that phone just to say that name everytime someone asked me lol.

Yea ok. You TB owners keep telling yourself that. verizon's a day late on all their phones. Sorry more like a year late. Evo before TB. Epic before whatever slider it is. Photon before bionic. But hey verizon beat sprint to the iphone! Congrats!
Don't forget LTE vs.4g. Oh wait that means a better phone on the V. my bad.

With its existence and impending rollout all but confirmed, is anyone in the market for this? I figure there's quite a few people who didn't/don't feel like going around to premium stores looking for Merge like myself who are at least a bit tempted.

Personally idk, in some ways this screams "last years phone": the same issue that the Merge has because Verizon delayed it so long. I really don't know if I can give up the hardware qwerty though, even for something as sweet as the Nexus Prime. *sighs*

I'm considering it. I'm also considering the Droid 3.

I haven't decided whether I care more about LTE or dual-core. Also, I'd prefer Super AMOLED to Pentile LCD, but the D3 looks like it has a better keyboard.

I'd have to go to a Verizon store and play with both before deciding...

Droid 3 was on my radar, despite the fact that it's a locked down Motorola, mainly due to what I've heard about the keyboard. However it's not as rock solid as I'd hope in terms of software bugs, that and I'm shocked that it (and the Stratosphere) only came with 512 mb of RAM. That's disappointing for what are supposedly "high end" devices. I too prefer Super AMOLED, and I also prefer TouchWiz 3/4 to MAP. Two more strikes against Droid 3.

Droid 3 is more powerful though, in a way i'd be futureproofing myself in terms of processor, which is nice...but the Stratosphere is futureproofed in terms of network technology...one could argue that that's more important.

Nah, stratosphere is not a catchy "jingle" of a name at all. They will come up with something else.

I like the name, even if it's not catchy...one could argue that Eris or 2 and 3 aren't particularly catchy either haha.

At least its better than "Runnymede", which sounds like a medical disorder...

Indeed...Runnymede..:P

person one: "I got the Runnymede"

person two: *steps back* "The what?

Well, so far no announcement today. I'm actually pretty upset about that. First I was super interested in Merge but that never happened so I've been waiting for Stratosphere but now its looking like it may be passed over too. *sighs*

IIRC, the Stratosphere was just at the FCC, we have a bit longer to wait.

Merge is out there for VZW, but at this rate, you ought to just wait for this.

I think that if this was dual core, or Merge was 4G, id feel much better picking either over Nexus Prime.
