i wish i would have realized the extent of their screwup before i just upgraded.....
i just got an s21 ultra, and figured i could just use an external drive.. i can after using usb debugging. but the hitch is....
files can be read/played to programs thru file manager, but progams for example samsung play even, DO NOT recognize the drive to allow you to browse using said program. ive been thru t-mobile, and just now a samsung tech, and they pretty much told me politely too bad, use the internal only. it seems to be some sort of lock down conspiracy if you ask me.. heres the latest transcript of me trying to get help:

Sorry Stephen but that's how it works. Apps will only access the internal drive for music files. Not external devices unfortunately.
You can only play the files by manually browsing
