Samsung sucks for removing the micro SD and MST Samsung Pay.

Don't let the media you fool you. Sure they aren't selling Apple numbers in terms of flagships, but they are still number 2 in that department. No other manufacturers are close. Budget/mid range phones are their true bread and butter when it comes to sales and profits.
That's the problem, they're not selling lots of phones. Last year was a failure for them. So theyre trying again by dropping the price this year in hopes of better sales. But in turn that requires losing features to cut cost. I don't think it'll pay out in the end. I live in a major metro area and 90% of the time I'm using MST. Especially with Covid I try to avoid touching terminals. Also cloud storage is just another ridiculous cost that will be more than a simple microSD.

I'm just upset with the removal of expandable memory. I use my phone for work and usually have a lot of files j carry with me. so the expandable memory helps. especially when video is at 8k/4k 128/256gb go fast and with apps on phone it sucks.

I was on the check out when I checked on stats better and cancelled my purchase of the ultra

So what’s you’re next move if not Samsung?

I was think s20+ and selling my iPhone but I don’t know yet the s21 is too gimped for me but I understand you gotta cut back.

Really think the note 20 was a test run for Samsung now with the plastic back expect lighter phones with no sd and lower cost.

Samsung is trying to be apple without the cost, expect pretty, colorful phones that are easy to hold and carry that just do the basics.

Now with that ms partnership I expect more integration with windows and chrome books. Not a bad plan see everything from your phone on pc or TVs or chrome book.

My bank does not support mobile app payment so I couldn't care less what Samsung does or doesn't do with their payment system.

If it's faster I've never noticed. Not that I believe it would be fast enough to make a difference that really matters.

When you are at the register with people behind ya and it starts taking a few Mississippi's to read and you start wondering do I pull my wallet out and pay with my card instead... you notice lol. Compared to like I said the moment I bring the phone up to the same location with the NFC symbol printed on it with Google Pay and chimes before you can blink... you notice.

Actually was at my grocery store yesterday and thought I'd pay with SP today just to see how long it takes... had it over the NFC sensor I'm always use to, had the app already up, card displayed and just needed to put my finger on the FPS... one miss... two miss... "Card error."

Just swiped that app away to bring me back to the home screen and didn't get to finish "one miss..." before the chime and checkmark to say paid.

Maybe Google just has it's Google Pay dialed in to it's NFC service better than the competition. Just one person's experience though.

I use Google pay now. Works just as well, and MST, while convenient about 5 percent of the time, really isn't used enough in my case, and just as easy just to pull out my card.

I also don't miss SP launching by accident when I'm trying to do other things.

Never experienced that much lag with MST. In fact it's usually instantaneous. Perhaps it's dependent on the terminal.

Same here. S pay is pretty quick for me. I know some people tend to leave there phone over the terminal until transaction is done, but as soon as I hear the connection sound I move my phone and complete my transaction.

In my experience MST has gotten worse over time in terms of responsiveness. Perhaps it's the stores I frequent but it seems to take several seconds. I would rather have it anyway but it is not a show stopper. Gotta take the good with the bad.

No problem at all with the removal of the SD card. I have a card in my S10, and it's actually a hassle managing both storage spaces. I'm using about 64GB on the 128GB card and 35GB on the 128GB internal. Bought the 256GB S21, so I shouldn't have any storage issues.

Damn, transferring large 8K video files to the SD card in your phone must be EXCRUCIATING!

Whether you stick with an SD card or not, please do yourself a favour and get yourself a portable SSD.

I guarantee you trying to watch 8k videos from the cloud, moving 8k videos from one cloud service to another, or trying to transfer 8k video from your phone if it breaks is a lot worse or impossible.

The S21 Ultra with no micro SD slot, no MST is actually heavier than last year's heavy S20 Ultra

Yeah... That reply didn't really have anything to do with my actual content...

I think leaving out the expanded memory was a mistake. Even though I had the 512 S10+ and hardly used any space, I like using the SD card for my camera pics and music on my S20 Just in case the phone crashes or just the ease of knowing if I need to copy over all of my music/pics fast i can take out the SD card. As far as MST, It would still be nice here in the US as most stores haven't upgraded to NFC only like they were supposed to a while back. but I use google pay now since I was having too many declined payments with SP and Google Pay does not support MST so it is useless for me now so it doesn't matter if it is there or not.

For me neither of these are an issue. If I end up going back to a Samsung device I wouldn't use MST and I don't need the storage anymore that an micro SD slot provides. I stream all my music and all my pics are backed up to google photos. I've never kept that much stuff on my phone that I need more than 30GB so 128GB is plenty for me at this point. As for MST, never used it, I do occasionally use Google pay but most of the time I still just use my card. I don't completely trust it yet.

some people might say internal storage and cloud storage is good enough but some of jus still like having memory cards, i have had phones fail completely with no way to recover information from it, so i never rely only on internal storage. thus why i mus has expandable storage as an option, thats why i never went for a Pixel phone, as good as the pictures are with it.
so if this is the way samsung will be moving, then its gonna be sad, having to switch to a diff brand. hmm, might have to get that Note 20 Ultra, something tells me samsung gon pull that same no sd card stunt for the Note 21, sigh

Sony and LG welcome you with open arms.

By skipping the SD Card and MST, it put a halt to my upgrade plans. I use both of those features regularly.
