I noticed that the shipping box for my S10 had very minimal packing material (just 2 inflated plastic bags). Not a lot of protection. When I shipped back my LG G6, I put the phone back in it's original product box and put that in the shipping box with more bubble wrap just to be safe.

If you have the original box yes just send it in original box, make sure you tape it so that the box doesn't open off by itself and also lots of bubble wrap and cushion inside the shipping box so that it doesn't move around.

My guess is after your return period. If they deny your trade before the return period is over you can return the phone.

They received and signed for my S8 trade-in on 3/21...is there somewhere on the Samsung website you can track the trade-in process, or is it just a matter of wait for an email from them?

You won't get anything saying they received it. You will have to use your tracking or the Samsung app will show delivered when they get it.

Some have said they didn't get notified when approved either, so I check both just to be sure.

They received my phone on the 18th, haven't heard anything yet.
