So I litterally bought this tablet 5 days ago. Worked fine to begin with then yesterday one minute it's working fine, pick it up 30 minutes later screen is dead. No 'accidents' whatsoever in the mean time.

The tablet is on, I can hear notifications coming in, the touch-screen is also working (I can hear the taps/feel the vibration when I touch where the keypad should be) but the screen is completely black, no backlight no nothing.

I have tired a soft reset (power + vol down button) plus many other button combinations, the tablet reboots but the screen is still black.

Have searched everywhere online but came up with nothing.

My big problem is that I bought it on a recent trip abroad so the warranty does not cover it back home. But I still don't want to open it so that I don't void the warranty.

Any ideas what this could be? Loose flex cable? Fried LCD? Thinking of taking it to my local Samsung authorised repair shop for them to have a look (shouldn't void warranty since it's still Samsung authorized) and if it's not a cheap fix will have to find a way to send it back.

You may have accidentally turned the brightness all the way down. Try swiping the notifications shade down (even though you can't see it), then drag your finger left to right approximately where the brightness control would be.

This actually happened to me once. Good luck!

That's interesting. Even at 0 brightness, I can still see the screen on my Note 10.1 2014 (and on my Note 4).
