Screen doesn't light up with notifications?

Everything is working well on my day old Note 5 except one thing that I thought was basic -- the screen doesn't light up at all with any notifications. Sounds and vibration works fine. I've been through literally hours of searching settings like the LED blink but no dice. Am I the only one? Any suggestions besides a 3rd party app?

Yikes. This has worked fine for me on all my previous android phones including my last Note 4. I thought it was a no-brainer function but maybe I'm wrong.

Never thought about it ,but you're right! I thought something looked different. There must be a workaround.

I noticed that too and I'm on AT&T. Also, when I put my phone on DND, I still get the flashing LED for notifications..
