screen goes black, can not find switch to disable proximity sensor

There usually isn't one. Do you have a screen protector on the phone that might not be cut properly to not cover the prox. sensor? It IS possible it's failed, an app such as CPU-Z can display the status of the sensor, which will help troubleshoot if the sensor has stopped detecting properly.

I have Blu G8 running Android 9.
I just developed this problem today. I replaced the glass screen protector with no success. Next, downloaded AndroSensor, which said the proximity sensor is not working. I cannot find any setting to disable the sensor. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! You replaced the screen protector? What about taking the protector off and leaving it off -- does the problem still happen?
