Screen not recognising touch in small section

Wondered if anyone had any experience of this? I have a phone where a small part of the screen doesn't recognised being touched. I've tested this with the HTC Line Drawing Test and it turns out there's a strip part way up the phone that is exactly 1cm high affected.

It's quite a subtle problem, and not immediately noticeable. But it's noticeable whilst scrolling, or using the keyboard in landscape mode. I've attached some screenshots of line drawing tests below.

Does anyone know if a screen replacement would fix this? Or could it be more internal than that? Worth taking it into a repair shop, or would I have to send to HTC?

Yes, it does unfortunately (see bottom left corner of 1st screenshot)!

I've actually tried a factory reset too. Almost certainly hardware I suppose?

D'oh! My powers of perception are failing me.:'(

Yeah, if it's persisting in Safe Mode and after a reset, then it's most likely a hardware issue. Contact HTC for warranty repair.

Yeah thanks I figured. May have an issue getting it done for free as I dropped it. And I believe they don't replace screens on warranty anyway?

when this happened on other phones of mine... they said it's the digitizer and it needed to be replaced... I replaced it and it worked fine again... I suggest just sending it in for the replacement if you can if not, take it to a local phone shop and it'll probably be around $100- $150 to fix
