Screen Overlay Detected - To Change This Permission......6P is messed up

I'm having this issue too but I've already tried turning everything off even system apps but it still tells me screen overlay detected. Nothing I've tried will fix it and a lot of my apps are giving me this error now. I don't have Twilight or anything like that, at least not that I know of. My phone did a system update yesterday and now I'm having this problem. Help!! Please.

I'm having the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 it's very very irritating and I can't figure out how to get it to stop. It's the same infinite loop.

Do not do a factory reset! It will fix the problem for just a couple days then it'll go right back.
I have the same issue. Whether it's the Facebook or Twitter mobile app or through the browser. A friend said I'll have to do a factory reset. But i don't think i should have to. But how do you turn off the screen overlay? I don't see anything saying turn screen overlay on or off. Running stock Android 6 on T-Mobile.

Has anyone got this error message? I'm trying to share a photo via facebook and whether from my gallery app or from facebook. It asks if I want to give FB access to my storage. I say yes. It says "Screen overlay detected- To change this permission setting you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Settings > Apps"

I do that but nothing works. Whether it says NO by FB's Screen Overlay allowed, or YES - it still just directs me in this endless loops. Have tried reboots and nothing. Anybody else experiencing anything similar?
just deactivate the "one hand operation" if it's activated already.

I had my 6p showing the battery percentage number in the top right hand corner and it kept taking me on the loop you mentioned. I turned that off and screen overlay is no more.

Here is the fix this I used. I didn't have any of the know apps that were causing the problem.

Settings>Applications>Application Manager>More>
Apps that show on top>More>
Show system apps> turn ALL of them off.

Simply just close your FB chat head I tried everything to and disabling all overlay worked but it's a pain so I tried closing FB chat and it worked you just can't have a over lay on screen while doing this

Hey Sesha6,

I posted above that I got rid of the screen overlay issue by deleting all Cheetah apps, including CM. That worked for a while. Now I am getting the screen overlay issue again, even though I haven't added any apps to the phone. Could this be a result of any updates on current apps? Do you have any suggestions of what to look for? Thanks, Nicky.

Have you looked in Settings -> Apps -> Gear symbol -> Special access -> Draw over other apps (this is the navigation path in 7.0; not sure what it is if you're on 6.0.1)?

This should show a list of all apps that are allowed to overlay other apps. You can turn off any likely suspects until you find the one(s) causing your problem.

If you have "Always On Display" on, try taking it off and it'll work

Was figuring this out for forever.. I got extremely frustrated to the point where I wanted to smash my Note 7. The issue was closing the Facebook Messenger Chat Heads. Every time I closed out of them, the apps were working.. Thank god for figuring this out.. Thanks for whoever said that!
