SCREEN Overlay...WTF?! Come On Google.....

Thanks Spook! Sure wish that woulda been written a couple of months back, would've saved me the 1000+ head bangs i've done since FIRST seeing the error/msg... I searched high & lo, & even tho its a vexing issue, i am glad to see i'm not alone : )

I stand by my comments tho....There just is no need to have such a common error be so perplexing and time consuming....

At one time i was an Android lover... NOW, i'm just an Android User, and its because of reasons like this (Google's obvious G*d Complex) that makes it really difficult for me to recommend their platform to anyone anymore...

I agree its a "bug" and not just some precautionary measure...I mean, it prolly IS prompted by some "Security" violation, but i find it hard to believe it is an "intended Prompt"....Is this, "Swipe Home Button" an app? Is their any equivalent setting i can try? I use ADW....

Thanks!

The bug is that Google caved in and allows apps in google play/from oems that does it.

When you use a feature "discovered" by malware, you're probably doing it wrong.

I'm confused why this is a WTF Google thread and not a WTF Samsung thread. Or a WTF (insert the name of the horribad developer that is sabotaging your device) thread.

Seems weird that it's not happening on any Google phones but is happening on 4 or more Samsung phones - all which are running Samsung's software, which is based on Google's but heavily modified. I'd lean heavily towards WTF Samsung in this case.

Hi Aquila!

I hate to be disagreeable but it happened on my Nexus 6 i had last year, and if you look at this Google search, its happened on many others Nexus 6 owners as well as a few other phones running stock...

If you're a Google fan, i can 100% understand being defensive of them, as they do A LOT of things right when attempting to move the platform forward, but on the other hand, there are many reasons (too many to list) at how deceptive, confusing, and controlling they have become... Its just my opinion, i'm not trying to start any wars, its just frustrating as a "common user" is my point, is all : )

And quite frankly, my post was created out of the frustration i experienced when trying to install Gboard and getting that dang msg once again!

Cool I didn't know that is happening on stock devices; makes sense given the above explanation as a security feature.
