Screen protectors will stop the fingerprint reader from working: knock-out criterium?

I do too! Dome keeps posting it everywhere! Their screen protectors 'will not interfere with the fingerprint scanner on the S10's.'

Oh they do so Dome is a good protector? I've been using Zagg for a while now and I like this kiosk in the mall girl puts it one for me and does a great job.

I figured it was just that company trying to steer people from the phone. I don't see how Samsung would put out such an expensive phone with one of the key features not working if you put a screen protector on it.

That would be a deal breaker for me because glass screen protectors have saved my phone multiple times and I prefer using the scanner to open my phone.

Back when we had HTC M8 we used Zagg glass for the 1st time and I loved it and it was 40 bucks but I wanted Glass for all my phones and then after the M9 when we got our 7 Edges things changed and now with these curved edges their isn't really any good glass ones out there that I know of but I stil use Zagg just the Invisishield not glass. I don't like the ones that have the black on the top and bottom I liked just the all clear glass ones.

Really good! I've had mine on my S9 plus for almost a year now. Dropped it a handful of times and there's not a scratch on it!

Thanks! I'll look into Dome for my next one if Zagg won't work. I just like going to the mall Kiosk cause they put them on. Can you get Dome at like Best Buy or just on-line only?

I think they're online only. I got mine thru Amazon. Same price but free shipping, since I have Prime.

Are we sure about the rumor that the in-screen fingerprint scanner would be blocked by screen protectors? The rumors that I read online about this all trace back to this tweet by Armadillotek. Perhaps film/TPU screen protectors will still be OK.

I usually use glass protectors on my Note phones, since the S-Pen leaves impressions in TPU. Wouldn't mind using a film protector on the S10+ though.

That's why I said that this was just this ONE company. Yes, some materials are bound to not work but since Dome confirmed theirs does work, this is hardly confirmation that protectors will block the FPS

What I'm more curious about is whether the S10 will have an iris scanner, given that the FPS has been moved to the front.

I'm hoping the scanner works with the standard cheap screen protectors. I've always bought the (3) packs from Amazon for less than $10 and they never gave me any issues.

So like now on my 9 plus I see the red dot and look into phone and it unlocks. I thought it was some new intelligent scan with the iris scan so we won't be able to do this anymore on the 10?

I-Blason have posted a video of their Cosmo cases for the S10. They stated that the full body case which normally has a built in screen protector, won't have one on the S10.

Their tests showed the screen protector wouldn't work on the in screen fingerprint scanner.

I installed a full adhesive one (with UV hardening) on my Mate 20 Pro and can confirm that it does NOT work. Since the S10 also has an ultrasound fingerprint reader, it's safe to assume that Dome protectors and the like won't work on the S10 either. The only thing I've seen work on the Mate 20 Pro are wet apply plastic ones.

Do you have a link to the video? It's very surprising Samsung wouldn't figure this out with the phone being so expensive.

I guess we'll have to see if the rumors of it coming with a screen protector are true.

Where did you read that the Mate 20 Pro uses Ultrasonic? I read this - "As we expected, instead of a Qualcomm second-gen ultrasonic sensor, the one in the Mate 20 Pro is still made by Gudix, like on most current phones with in-display scanners, including the OnePlus 6T, and is still of the less precise optical variety."

If Samsung comes out with a brand-name protector, and gives 3rd party vendors the materials and specs needed for a protector, it's Samsung's fault for 'not figuring it out' when new tech on the screen needs new tech for the protectors and cheapo companies aren't willing to invest in it?

Screen protectors suck on curved screens anyways. I stopped using one after spending hundreds of dollars trying to find one that works.

Never used screen protectors for 9 years on Android. I only had one time my screen was scratched, and it was an accident with surgical tools. My use case scenario allows me to not care for screen protectors on my phone, so no it won't be a deal breaker for me.

My husband hasn't used a screen protector since he got his Note 8. I had one on my Note 8 and have one on my 9 plus Zagg is what we like. I really want one on my 10 plus and yes maybe it will come with one as they previously stated. The zagg glass on our HTCs were the best.
