Screen Protectors

dumb question... sorry...

What is Gorilla Glass? A spray? I've heard great things from many sources about Gorilla Glass and I have NO IDEA what in the world it is. Bear with me - I'm just too lazy to google it.

They displayed it at CES, but from my understanding, it is a super-tempered glass with a film treatment on it. Engadget did a little outline on it, but the 3 main points were
1) A lot harder to scratch
2) When you do scratch it, the stress fractures at the base of the scratch are minimized, preventing crack propagation
3) it is hard to divot or break, with the same treatment (mentioned above) preventing that.

The demo at CES showed a GG rep taking a piece of regular, tempered, and gorilla glass, and then using a screwdriver and leaning on the middle of each piece in turn. Reg glass broke within .05 seconds, tempered glass waited until he had 1/2 his body weight (and no additional muscle pressure), and gorilla glass didn't even break when he was practically supporting his whole weight on the thing, and shaking the table w/ force. It was impressive.

So, this is what the Motorola Droid screen has a standard screen? Cool.

I've been going without a screen protector. I prefer the tactile feel of the naked screen. I had no idea it was any special glass.

Soooooo, am I wasting my time with this annoying piece of plastic?

Thats what i hear. I will try it out with no screen protector when I get a warranty phone, and see if it is worth it.

I carry my phone in my pocket constantly though, so I take all the protection I can.

I have the Verizon Screen protectors.. I don't know how I feel about them. It does get dirty easily.. But I have dropped my phone and there's a scratch on the protector, so I suppose it's doing it's job. There are a pain in the butt to put on.

I don't have too much experience with different screen protectors. All I know is that I hate putting them on, and I hate bubbles. With that, I picked up the invisible shield and had the rep at the store put it on for me. Yeah, the texture is a little different than you might expect, but I am enjoying it. I would purchase another invisishield in the future.

I just put a skinomi on my new incredible. Now waiting a few hours to dry out. We'll see...

I just ordered a skin from bestskinsever. I used them on all of my blackberry's and they are great. They are like IS but half the price.

I got a screen protector from Boxwave and I have to stay they're the best I've ever seen. It was easy to apply and it really does have 99% clarity like they say. I honestly can't even tell it on unless I look at the ear piece where the protector has a bit of extra space around it. I'd recommend them to anyone.
