Screen sensitivity issues anyone?

I've been on Blackberry forever. Recently converted to Android for my need of the Uber Partner app. I did not go with the Priv due to the fact that I thought the SG6 would be one of top Android phones. When I bought the phone I had the Otterbox Defender and a tempered glass screen protector instàlled. Phone worked flawlessly for the first month, just a learning curve. I now have the screen sensitivity issues that come and go. It is a Verizon, I cannot run the test. Please help, before I chunk this piece of junk. The camera is good. Too me 20+ minutes to type this.

The case caused my problems. Have you tried no case yet?

No I have not, only reason being is that this case has been on the phone since day one, worked really good the first month. So I will try it without the $50 case, if it turns out to be the case, would Otterbox own up to a bad design or would I have to eat it.

My case was fine to at the beginning. Then I started in having the issue. It's not Otterbein, it's the s6 and something within it interfering. With my case it was the left side causing the issue. Found it had metal in it tho, so maybe plastic is a non issue. The issue is infuriating tho. An awesome phone otherwise. I would not have put up with it this long. I was packing it up for return to Samsung for repair. Took off the case and Bingo! Perfect again. Then I saw this thread and another had the case issue. This may be my last Samsung.

Same here, bought my original case from Verizon. It was fine at first. After a month or so, I had real difficulty typing. Was very frustrating. Changed cases, problem gone.

I took the case off, hard reboot, thought it going to be much better. One hour later, slowly bad again. It's a Verizon, can't get the firmware update others on the thread are talking about. As I typed this message, I'm now right back with the same problem. If something doesn't happen, bye bye Samsung.

Just an update to my issues. I had the phone for about 30 days, same case. Problem started. The dialer fix didn't work on Verizon, didn't recognize the commands. I took the phone back, new phone has been perfect in the same case since. 60 days probably. So in my case I believe it was hardware failure.

Spender000, can you talk about what you did to configure your device after the factory reset? Have you installed a new launcher? Have you installed a new messaging app? Have you added any non-stock notifications? Any info on your system setup would be appreciated.

I had a similar experience, where I factory reset 2 days ago, and everything was working great, but I have been slowly adding apps and media, and now it is back to the same old issue. As soon s I factory reset, I installed Nova which made me think that wasn't the culprit because it has worked fine for 2 days. The last thing I did before the phone went back to the old problems was setup the You Need a Budget (YNAB) app. I restored my device from backup using Samsung Smart Switch and YNAB was installed then, but I had to go through the setup process to sync it with my phone by setting it up with Dropbox. This is the last thing I did before the sensitivity issues came back. Prior to that were several notification downloads from Zedge and before that was installing Dolphin browser, but didn't notice any issues.

I talked to AT&T Tier 2 support on Saturday and have a warranty replacement (i.e. "like-new" [possibly refurbished] phone) in the mail. I was getting pretty excited that my original S6 looked like it had took a turn for the better but now it is back to the original issue, so I'm not sure if I'm going to take the refurb or keep the original.

Is anyone running the following without issues?
-Nova Launcher
-Textra
-HD Widgets
-SplenDo

This also affects the fingerprint scanner and causes it not to read as well.

Typing on Samsung Galaxy S6 like I'm on a flip phone!

I got this S6 a month ago and started having all these same issues, couldn't get the screen to react, pain in the **** when texting, apps wouldn't open, etc, etc. After reading many of your comments I removed my case and the phone acts perfectly. I don't know what the issue is with that but I will be getting a new cover. My current one has metal in it so I'm opting for a plastic only one.

I have had my GS6 for about 2 weeks. On and off had this issue. It started with just the top left corner going 'dead' which could easily be fixed (though annoying) via an app like Droid Optimizer to kill all apps. Over the past few days, another sensitivity issue has arisen where the entire screen, primarily the right half, seems to lose its sensitivity. You have to really put pressure for it to register your touches. That has come and gone over the past 3 or 4 days. Can't tell if I have a faulty device or just a software glitch that the next update could cure. I REALLY don't want to go through the hassle of an exchange. Anyone got any ideas? I'm on Verizon.

The top left corner issues seem related to the Facebook Messenger bubble heads. If you have this app installed try disabling the bubbles, or even the whole app, and see if it makes a difference.

When I had the problem I never used a case, but when I put the phone on a flat surface, say table or sofa. The phone was almost impossible to use. If it was in my hand it was much better, but the bottom right hand corner was very unresponsive.

Thankfully the hidden menu software update did the trick. The phone has been perfect ever since.

The phone working better in my hand vs in a case or out of hand leads me to believe it is some sort of electro conductivity issue. When the phone is "naked" you are able to earth the phone? I'm no expert though, so could be thinking complete rubbish. Not sure how the sw update fixes it though.

Hey there,

I'm on Verizon as well so no luck on the dialer trick. My phone is only 5 days old though

My issues is only on the far left edge when I wish to drag icons over to a left page, the right is perfect. It's definitely case related as now that it's removed, moving icons to a left page is just fine.

I have removed Facebook Messenger so I'll see if the top left issue comes back.

In terms of my other issue, I have noticed that when I take my new Caseology case off, it is better. I don't understand this at all. I wish I could do the dialer trick (as that seems to help) but since I'm on Verizon it appears stupid VZW disabled it.

I've been fighting this for a couple days as well, pull down menu and typing has been driving me crazy. I just turned off all the motion and gestures options in settings and all seems well again. Worth trying.

Mine is also doing the same mostly on the left side of the screen. I am going to try and removing the screen. I have seen this same issue with over phones and it can be caused by the screen having a little more pressure pushing it up on one side more than the other.

Will report back

Had similar issues with my s6 - taps did not register especially when phone was kept horizontal. Running verizon software repair assistant worked very well for me. It took about an hour to backup, repair and restore the data and after that taps are working just fine!
