Screen stays on?!

Hi all,
My wife's nexus 5 is set to go to sleep after 30s of not using it. But that's not the case. ATM I'm waiting for more than 2 mins, and it's still on.
Besides that, we have noticed that, sometimes, screen turns on without any reason. No notifications, or anything. We just find it on. And staying on...
Phone is unrooted, so on 4.4.4 stock.
Hope someone could help. Thanks.

Live long and prosper.

Is this happening only while the phone is plugged in? If so, go to Settings>Developer Options, and make sure Stay Awake is unchecked.

Any magnets nearby that might be activating the smartcover sensor, then being withdrawn, which then activates the screen? Or any apps installed that might manipulate the screen, like a screen filter, or an active notifications-like app?

Nothing of that kind. I'm holding it in my hand, and still same thing... Apps are basic in her phone, so nothing that can disturb the screen...

Unfortunately, we can't look at wakelocks, since you're not rooted. What do the battery stats look like? Is there any particular app that seems to be using up more battery than usual? Or is it just Android OS or System?

Also, does it still happen in Safe Mode? Or have you tried a cache partition wipe (which can take up to 10 minutes on the N5)? Steps for both are here: Reset: Google Nexus 5 | T-Mobile Support

Was thinking of trying reset. Thanks. Will do it, and I'll post results. Thanks mate. A lot.

I had the same issue earlier, turned out it's because of my Lockscreen app, it keeps the screen on after an update, but they fixed it soon. It may be one of your apps. Just a thought.
