screen timeout question

Whenever i timeout the screen (push the power button) when i wake it up it shows 3G for a few seconds before showing the wifi,it does not bother me but i have sync turned on,my question would be is when the phone is in timeout is it using Wifi or 3G,i would hate to be using my 4 GB of data when it is connected to Wifi.and timeout.

I'm just saying this as a guess b/c I have not had a need for wifi on any device(unlimited). Have you seen what happens if you turned off mobile data when on wifi. That seems like it would assure that any native network data connection is not in use, only wifi upon waking. If mobile data is on, it may just be a system check of the network connection upon waking. Check your My Verizon data widget if you haven't debloated, to see if any data is occuring when on wifi?

My question is why doesn't it stay on wifi when it goes to sleep?

What is your phone's wifi sleep policy? Mine is set to never and I haven't seen this happen.
