Mine turns on when it gets to 100% charge.

Do you have a task killer running? This might be a cause.

I've seen this, too. I always think it's an incoming text, but nothing happens and I'm not at 100%. Not running any task killers.

Same thing, its random while charging.

No task killers (as we should) and it never did this pre-2.2.

At night its annoying to the point I have to flip over my phone so it doesnt light the room up.

When I plug my phone in to charge, the screen turns on. I hate this feature. I have to wait and shut it off. I know it will turn off eventually and its charging so who cares if its on, but for some reason it just drives me nutz.

My screen turns on randomly in rare instances. I have no task killer and minimal non-stock apps. The screen has turned on while the charger is plugged in, long after the battery was fully charged (green LED). It's a minor thing for me, but hopefully it can be addressed. Working in software, I know how hard it can be to diagnose issues that arise in rare and non-reproducible cases.

I doubt it's a loose connection on the phone side since my phone has been sitting on a desk when it's happened to me, but you bring up a good point. It could be a small power surge or something on the wall outlet side since we all know the screen turns on when plugged or unplugged.

im sure it has to do with the way it charges now in Froyo.
It only does this on .6 of Froyo that i saw. And only does when its almost fully charged.
Like mine will show full charge on the batt meter on the home screen, but the light isnt green yet.
May do it another time or two , then the light goes green.

I've seen it happen a couple of times... I can remember when I was on winmo it would happen when a call was coming in but there was an active data connection going on the phone and didnt let the call through. Wonder could it be the same thing here? The only way i'd know was because sometimes after a few minutes i'd get a voicemail notification.

I get the same thing. In fact I just saw my phone light up while charging. It's not near the end and the cable isn't loose. It hasn't even been touched for half an hour.

Same thing here...it is when it is charging, and it turns on, I turn it off, and it does it again.

mine has done this--
since then,
turned off GPS (maps/latitude would periodically attempt to update my location--so it would turn on the screen)
turned off "passive mapping" in SensorlyMapViewer when i know i'm not going to be able to look at the phone--it actually says in the "info" area that it will turn on the screen periodically & leave it on while it is mapping.

hope either of these two options are any bit helpful to anyone in the same boat.

Mine has done this also on a rooted phone and when it was unrooted. I don't have any task killers running nor installed.

However, I really don't mind since I charge the phone while I am at work but would be interesting to find out what is causing the phone to turn on.

For some reason the problem has gotten worse for me. It used to be that the display turn on by itself when I was charging it, but now it happens continuously throughout the day. I don't have a task killer, and I don't know what the problem could be. I don't have it charging, and it just turns on. For instance in the last ten minutes the display turned on twice.

I have the problem also that the phone is now restarting by itself.
