I'm going try that and see if it helps or does anything to keep the screen from lighting up when I get a text.

So it works with Textra?@mustang7757 -
I'm trying something different to resolve the issue! I decided to download / and install Textra SMS app. And customize the settings in the Textra SMS app to not wake up the screen when I receive a text. And I've made Textra SMS app as my default for text messages / messages.
Might be the only way to avoid the screen waking up other than to always have 'Do not disturb' on.
I don't know. I need someone to send me a text. So I guess I'll wait to see what happens when someone does.So it works with Textra?
Ok gotchaI don't know. I need someone to send me a text. So I guess I'll wait to see what happens when someone does.
It worked! I think it could be something stock messages related, maybe.Ok gotcha
That's greatIt worked! I think it could be something stock messages related, maybe.
But I received a text message and my screen didn't light up. Since I was using Textra SMS app as my text messaging app and I unselected the option on textra, to not wake the screen when receiving a text message.
That's greatglad you found a solution, I will use this to help other members.
I'm glad Textra is working well for you.Yeah, I wish I didn't have to use a different app for text messaging . But since the stock messages app , doesn't have a way to stop it from waking the screen when receiving a new text message, Textra SMS app seems like the way to go.![]()
We see if anything changes with Android 10 , maybe can go back again.Yeah, I wish I didn't have to use a different app for text messaging . You using stock message app?I have the opposite problem..no matter what I do, I can't get my S10 to wake up for a text notification even though I think everything is set to do so!
Can you post a screenshot if your settings by long press the message app tap info then notifications? No, just the regular Messages app from Samsung. When I get a text, all i get is the sound notification. No icon on Lock screen, and phone doesn't wake.
