Screen Won't Turn On

I've been having a problem lately with the screen not turning on after I hit the home button or power button to wake it up. The screen stays black. Sometimes it's only for a few seconds and sometimes it takes a few minutes to turn on. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what may be causing this or how to fix it? Any help would be great. Thanks.
