I just noticed today that when I long press the home button, the screen flashes, I then tap the search box, then at the top of the screen, a see a search box, with a screen shot it just grabbed. Then if i say something it adds to it ,but only searches the image. I have the Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra with Android v15, and my wife has the Galaxy s22 plus and her search works as expected. What I expect is I long press the home button, I see a search box and I talk to do a google search. ... thoughts

It sounds like if you want to use the long press, you'll need to turn off the AI circle to search tool.

Try this.

To disable Circle to Search on your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, you need to disable the Digital assistant app option. This will prevent the feature from appearing when you try to use it, according to Samsung. You can also disable specific AI features within the Galaxy AI settings, according to Android Police. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4]
Steps to disable Circle to Search:

  1. Open Settings: Go to the Settings app on your S22 Ultra. [1, 1, 5, 5]
  2. Navigate to Digital assistant app: Within the Settings, you'll need to find the option related to the Digital assistant app. The exact path might vary slightly depending on your device's software version. [2, 2, 5, 5]
  3. Disable Circle to Search: Look for a toggle or option to disable Circle to Search. Once you find it, turn it off to prevent the feature from activating. [1, 1, 2, 2]
  4. Disable specific AI features: You can also disable other Galaxy AI features in the settings by navigating to Settings > Galaxy AI, selecting the specific service, and toggling it off. [3, 3, 6, 6]

when you disable circle to search, long pressing the home button does nothing

ALSO, looking at your reference #2, the video shows after long pressing the home button, you have to physically draw a circle around something to add it to the search, if you notice from the video, I am not doing that, it is just grabbing it automatically.

I just want a long press to allow me to do a Text or voice search without automatically adding a screenshot. And, I do not want to disable the AI features, I just want my devices to work as everyone else's does.

Disclaimer: I don't read, watch or dig deep into reference information. I leave that to the poster but yes I noticed the video was for the S25. I just ask the question and provide the information Gemini provides.

In the meantime, I was just reading a post about the One UI7 update and there was mention of the power button and it's use. I know that they removed some shortcut options for Assistant but I found this that describes how to change to function of the side button that may help.

In One UI 7, the side button (formerly the Bixby button) offers various customizable shortcuts. You can configure it to launch specific apps, access features within apps, or even use it to quickly access Samsung's AI Assistant, Google Gemini. Double-pressing the button can launch a camera, open a specific app, or access other actions. You can also use the button to access the power off menu or wake up Bixby or another digital assistant. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Customization Options:

  • Double-press: You can customize the double-press to launch the camera, open a specific app, or access a feature within an app. [1, 2, 3]
  • Press and hold: You can choose between waking up Bixby, opening the power off menu, or other digital assistants like Google Gemini. [1, 4, 5]
  • Combination: Some devices also allow you to customize the combination of the side button with the volume down button, for instance, to take a screenshot or access the power menu. [1, 2]
How to Customize:
  1. Open Settings > Advanced features > Side button. [3, 5]
  2. Adjust the settings for double-press and press and hold actions. [3, 5]
  3. If you have a dedicated Bixby key, you can also customize it in Bixby settings. [6]
New Features in One UI 7:
  • AI Assistant Integration: One UI 7 allows you to easily launch the AI Assistant (Google Gemini) with a long press on the side button. [2, 7]
  • Extended App Feature Access: You can now use the double-press to access specific features within apps, like video recording in the camera app or portrait mode. [8]
  • Good Lock Integration: The Good Lock app allows for even more robust customization options for the side button, including opening specific apps, taking screenshots, and more. [4]

I'm assuming that once you've disabled this default thing you would then have to pick another thing to take it's place. Let us know if these offer what you're looking for.

and to add to all of this, I contacted Samsung support, they ended up having me clear storage and cache on Google and One UI. Which fixed it for about 20 minutes, and did a hard reset on my home screen, app tray and side bar. after about 20 minutes, I saw this message about circle to search, no option to not use it and now back to where I was , and now having to re-do all my icon layout, folders and side bar.
