So i recently got a 16gb card to replace the 8 that came with the phone. It arrived yesterday, however when i took my old card out and put the new card in the phone dropped all connection with the wireless network, i only had an X. Once i took out the 16gb card and put the 8 back in the signal restored almost immediately.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or can someone tell me what the heck is going on with my phone?

I can't see why the SD card itself would cause that. I do know that the antenna contacts are on that bottom cover, so removing that can cause signal loss.

No I wasn't touching the Sim actually but I can see how one would think that. When I remove the sim I get the pop up saying I need to shut down or restart. In my case the network was just completely dropping off. I did however remove the sim when the network dropped off to see if removing the sim and putting it back in would solve the problem.

If your sure you were removing the SD card and not the SIM, if this happens again, I would think its maybe a faulty SD.

With the contacts being on the bottom of the phone you may have simply put it on wrong that time. It happens.
