SD card issue

I tried to insert my SD card, but everytime I do, I get an error upon start up that says "proceed isn't working. Stop or wait." I can see in the notification bar that there is an icon with an SD card, and when I pull it down, it says reading card, but the phone just sits there. No matter which option I choose on the error message, the phone lags and stutters and some of my apps don't work? Suggestions?

Is it an old SDCard from another phone or device. I recommend you format it in FAT32 using a PC or Laptop.. If its a new SDCard, could be Faulty, so just return it.

Whenever you buy a new phone or do a major update (such as Lollipop to MM) or change phones/devices you should always back up your data then Format the SDCard in the new OS or device.

OK, I am moving it from a Galaxy s7 Edge to my new G5. So, how should I back it up? To my PC? Which, it should already be doing because I use the Windows apps to transfer everything automatically from my phone to laptop. So, what steps should I take to fix this? Sorry, I am brain fried tonight and can't think straight!

OK, I am moving it from a Galaxy s7 Edge to my new G5. So, how should I back it up? To my PC? Which, it should already be doing because I use the Windows apps to transfer everything automatically from my phone to laptop. So, what steps should I take to fix this? Sorry, I am brain fried tonight and can't think straight!

No worries, You need to insert your SDCard into a PC or Laptop using an adaptor or Card Reader... Create a Folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents from the SD like you would a hard Drive.

Once thats done, Right Click the SDCard Drive in My Computer and Format it.. select "Fat32" and Full format... If this doesnt work.. the card may be faulty or locked.. in which case.. Im not sure

Once thats done.. Insert the formatted SDCard back into your G5, Goto Settings > General tab > Storage & USB > SDCard ... then the 3 dots in the top right of your phone screen > Settings > Format..

Once thats done... Then plug your G5 into your PC and copy all the files back onto your phones SDCard as normal..

You dont have too format your SDCard at all... However, its good practise and prevents errors and wierd things happening . When moving between phones or Software versions (KKat > Lollipop > MM).. the file structure may be changed in order to handle memory changes to the file system, so I find it a good habit to format for each device or Major OS Upgrade

But its not essential No..

Just received two SanDisk 200GB cards for 60 dollars each. Can't wait to try it out in the phone, though I never actually filled the 16 GB one from my old phone. The other one I will use in my DSLR with the SD adaptor.

Update: they are back up to 78 dollars..... Bummer

Thats actually a nice little deal, bet you wish youd bought 3 now ,

I find myself.. a 64GB + the 32 in the G5 does me, as I tend to rip my Music into 320 WMA, or lossless but where those nice 200GB cards would come into their own would be ripping your music into FLAC or even WAV.. then used a pair of Sennheiser, SURE or Baer headphones, shot some nice 4K video on the awesome camera, maybe a few mkv or 264 movies...

So what do you put on your SD card then ?

I'm sure they will run a sale or will come down in price eventually.

I will probably put more music on my phone. I normally just stream since I have unlimited data. It will be nice to put more offline music on my phone.
I will also be taking more photos and videos because of the quality of this camera. I've had Motorola's in the past and their cameras used to suck so bad that I didn't bother much.
