SD card not working?

My SD card isn't working at all. Last week I downloaded some media from an app to my SD card. It was taking a while for it all to download so I left it going overnight. When I checked it in the morning 15 of the 25 downloads were pending and I could not access the SD card. I removed it and put it in my wifes Dinc and her phone wouldn't recognize it either. I put her SD card in my phone and it worked fine. I don't have an external card reader for my PC. I checked the phone under settings > SD & Phone Storage and under the heading SD card it says Total space unavailable and Available space unavailable. I had a ton of pictures and a few videos on the SD card that I thought I had backed up on my PC but can't find right now.

Is my SD card dead? Anything I can do about it?

Sounds like your card might very well be dead. Your best bet might be to simply buy a new one.

Do you have any buddies that might have a card reader you can borrow, to see if you can read the card ok your pc? If not, I suggest you look around and get a new card that comes with the little usb adapter to plug into your computer's usb port. Does your pc have any card reader at all, that will read a full size SD card.

When you get a new card - get one that comes with an adaptor - the Kingston cards come with one.

I'll ask around and see if anyone has a card reader I can borrow. And hopefully I can remember where I put the pics I transferred from my SD card to my PC. I know I did, just not sure where they went.

you have to use a windows computer to view a sd card, you can't view a sd card on a android devices, without downlaoding some type of app, that is soo stupid. maybe someday android will fix that, theres a lot of things android needs to fix.

donald - not true. There are several ways to view and move files around in Android.

There are any number of file manager apps in the play store, many of the best one's are free and will let you view and copy files around almost anywhere you like on the device.

As far as transferring files off the phone, there is dropbox, G Drive, Box, email, Gmail, connecting the phone to a Linux, Mac or PC and several other ways. All of these are free as well. I'm not sure what more you could ask for in terms of flexibility in managing your data.

As far as Android being able to see the SD card, the Gallery will show pictures on the SD card as well as internal memory. The OS can also move most properly coded apps from internal memory to the SD card with one click. Many apps also use the SD card to store state information as well as data for the app.
