I will be buying a Nook Color tomorrow. I will be using this as a tablet, probably running CM7 on an SD card for now. Maybe I'll get lucky and the update will roll out in the morning.;)
I have read that a class 6 card is best. Any comments?

I plan on a 4GB or 8GB card. Any comments?

Thank you.
Chuck

Class 10 is best. What it really comes down to is how much do you want to pay for speed. Most people settle for class 6 or class 4.

That said, cards from different manufacturers but with the same class rating could perform much differently. From my research and testing, sandisk cards are more likely to be under-rated (they tend to perform better than what they are rated). I am running CM7 off of a class 4 sandisk card and it is very responsive.

I'm running HC on a Lexar 16GB class 6, it runs great. From what I've read they are the only company making a 32BG class 10 card that works awesome, but at almost $100... I've decided to go with the class 6 16GB!

Just thought I would update this a little. I finally did some big file writes to my Patriot Class 10 32GB microSD card. Looks like I was getting a solid 15+MB/s write speed to it when using a USB adapter on my desktop. Very impressed, and so far very reliable. I've had it for about 3 months now.

I installed CM7 on a class2 SanDisk 8GB microSDHC card to my friends NC. She is saying that the nook seems slowish. I tested the card using ATTO diskmark and.....

Sandisk 8GB class2 MicroSD
Max Write 13.626MBps
Max Read 20.137MBps

Is it worth upgrading. I am worried that buying a class 6 or class 10 card will actually be slower! Have you guys run benchmarks on your MicroSD cards?

I have read all over the place that the higher class cards are having much more of a problem running in these nooks. I just bought a cheapo 8 gig nothing special and it runs slick as snot. I wouldn't go buying a more expensive card when these cheap ones run so well right off the bat. That's just me though cause I'm "economically hyperaware" TM.

I'm running CM7 Stable on my $13 8 GB class 4 Kingston sdcard with no problems. Couldn't get it to run at all on a 32 GB class 4 Sandisk that came with my Thunderbolt. So who knows if its the speed rating or the size or the brand that the Nook is having problems with.

I've got 2 nooks running off of a Sandisk 16gb class 4 card. Runs about as fast as my Evo.

I have a transcend 8gb class 6 and I am getting "force close" prompts so often the system is unusable. Could this be to do slow card?

semi-unrelated question

First off...SORRY if this is considered thread hijacking...it just came to me while reading this thread...

I am looking at getting my wife (and secretly me) a NC, I keep seeing all this talk about running ROMs and things from the SD card and would most likly like to give it a shot but am concerned about something.

We are hobby photographers and would most likely be transferring pictures to the NC via the SD card...is it possible to pull your SD card and insert a different one without killing the system or causing problems? (and yes I know the NC probably isn't the best tool for photography but that's why we have desktops ;) )

Thanks for the help.

I use a SanDisk 16GB Class 4 and have not had any issues with speed or force close errors. I am Running CM7 :)

I agree that Class 4 should be plenty fast enough for any video that the Xoom can play.

Just got a Kingston 32 class 4 because I have 23 gig of music I want to put on it. Any experience with the Kingston cards? Think this card will work with CM7 SD install? I'm considering going there but haven't even rooted mine yet.
