SD card won't work!

I bought an 8gb sd card for my zte x max. It wount work! I've mounted and un-mounted several times and nothing will save on it. I can't even update app because there is no room. Help!

When you mount it / reformat it does it show the space within the phone? The SD card may be damaged.
