Seems like V30 is going to be the best phone

LG has one of the best software, and better hardware. Look at the Huawei Nexus 6P forums, 2 years later everyone's complaining about issues. Died too soon.
I prefer Sony's software over anything else. Probably the only software I didn't use a launcher on.

Half of what you knock the Note 8 for I can't agree with. Concerned with how long it will last? Personally every Samsung device I've bought minus a water damaged Note 2 still works. I'm typing this from a 4 year old Note 3, the S3 I bought in 2012 still works for my friend. Meanwhile LG phones are known for dying, I was a victim of the G4 boot loop, happened after 22 months of ownership.

You knock the Note for battery life, yet every single year LG produces flagship phones with mediocre battery life that can't match Samsung. I doubt the V30 will be better than the Note 8.

You knock TouchWiz and praise LG for their software, years of working Verizon and getting to use EVERY phone they both launched for 4 years I would say TouchWiz is better, and LG often copies features.

You call Samsungs dual camera a gimmick but praise LG for dual camera, for the average person a dedicated telephoto lens is far more useful than wide angle. Almost everyone is cropping their photos and losing detail, telephoto reduces the need to do that maintaining higher image quality.

You praise LG for having a 1.6/F Aperture, well big deal. It's paired with a smaller camera sensor, with smaller pixels, and is less sensitive to light than the camera in the Note 8.

I would compare your comments to other brands, but LG and Samsung are the only 2 Android manufacturers I've purchased, and the Note 8 followed by the V30 are the best flagships this year IMO. If priced right I would buy an LG again, but I will not pay the same price for an LG as I would Samsung because Samsung makes the better phone.

I agree that the battery life won't beat out the Mate 9 and I love that Huawei is serious about endurance.
I think you're jumping the gun about the camera performance however. Nobody has full production units yet and no fair assessments can be made yet. Let's wait until we get full reviews first and then we can judge. But by all means the performance will be close either way so having the "best" camera doesn't mean as much as it used to these days. It's all just for bragging rights and fun discussion.

While you right, i would add that no phone can claim best camera, as the same camera will have different results given to different people, i do think the V30 is very capable, in fact, much more than Note 8, since it uses the GS7 camera with software improvment, and many times the post proccessing of samsung gets in the way...

The next months should be intersting, soon we will know how the V30 fares, Mi Mix 2, and Mate 10, so many great devices for 2017.

Yep. I think this year's lineups are looking pretty tempting. Can't wait to see what that Pixel 2 gone be like as well. And I always like a good iPhone from a distance.lol

i once tried iphone, it was ok for a day, it's way too limited for my uses

I always say when Apple at least offers expandable storage I'll get one and we can see how that's going. Plus they took away the headphone jack which LG has not only kept but doubled down on. Just too many compromises. I would consider the Pixel as well but they have some of the same limitations.

I think pixel is way overrated and overpriced, outside of excellent performance and great camera, it really offered nothing, no IP rating, no dual speakers, no sd card, those things are mandatory.

Pixel 2 will offer IP68 but no SD card.

Yeah I was hoping for a good V30 as an alternative to the Note 8 but it's nothing special by the look of it. The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro however look quite exciting as well as a few others coming out or China this year. Mate 10 already shaping up to have a huge battery, great dual camera set up also sporting a main sensor with f1.6 aperture like the V30 but I'm sure it will perform better and the front camera will definitely better since the Mate 9 already is.

If I had to choose between a 8MP regular front camera vs 5MP ultra wide, I'd choose the ultra wide. I like to take selfies of myself with groups of friends, the V series is king in terms of front ultra wide selfies.

Umm...isn't the G6 the exact same?

LG's software is great? Their skins are usually the worst looking of all phone manufacturers and then there is the boot loop issue and other software related problems they've had in the past.
PAST being the operative word there. Unless the V30 has bootloop/software issues (unlikely) there's no need to judge the V30 negatively based on past generations issues. And I like the light skin of the V20. I've owned several Samsung's prior and I prefer LG's IU and light skins much better. I heavily customize everything with a launcher, icons, widgets anyways. But when I jump on my gf's S8+ for a minute ... F**k! I'm jumping all over the place to find stuff I find in a snap on the LG. Beautiful phone though. I just hate the bloated, and illogical TouchWiz
I think most people appreciate quality over getting more people in the frame though. I like that Samsung has that rotating front selfie trick where you can fit more people in the shot. LG really does have weak ffc performance 75% of the time but I don't mind it all that much.

Agreed, phone quality can be subjective. For example, some praise the 12MP Samsung camera. I agree, it takes beautiful shots. But when taking photos outdoor, the details are reduced. The 16MP packs more pixels in a photo, so small details in the background will be more visible, especially when zooming in and cropping. The 12MP is much faster with the dual pixel technology, but my eyes still see the loss in detail in certain shots. By the way, Samsung automatically enhances the photos to bring in more vibrant colors which looks pleasing, though the same can be achieved with a photo editing app. Very happy LG refused to follow the trends with 12MP cameras and removing the headphone jack, and keeping the microSD.

Zzzzzzzzz... One person's opinion. Everyone has different tastes and needs from their phones

LG gives us what we want. Apple/Pixel gives you what THEY want. Removing the headphone jack is a silly, cowardly move. If you like a $900 media powerhouse that lacks a basic 3.5mm jack, then enjoy it. Companies like the Essential phone deserve to go bankrupt for doing that.

The G series had the 8MP regular selfie. The LG G5 did not have the ultra wide angle, I actually liked that from the V10. The V10 and V20 had the ultra wide angle, which is awesome for those that take group photos and selfies with landscape on background. I don't like simply taking portrait selfies with nothing else to showcase besides myself.

Still leaning towards LG for me. That 13MP wide angle isn't found on any other smartphone manufacture. Before, I had a wide angle clip on lens. I use it all the time to take landscape shots.

You forget, no headphone jack on Pixel 2, and giant chins again.

Pixel 2 is not going to have headphone jack. Feel bad for the true fans. My friends were hardcore Apple fans, and also music fanatics. Removal of the headphone jack on iPhone 7 was a slap in the face. I told them in the beginning, Android is more flexible... Not too sure anymore with Pixel though.

LG isn't giving everyone what they want. Both the removable battery and IR blaster are gone, and the battery is small for a 6 inch oled screen.

Every phone comes with compromises. Every single one.

Your last sentence says it all. Every phone has compromises, every single one.

Samsung Experience isn't bloated. Many people have said as much in reviews. I'm sure LG's skin has been lighter in the past, but their UI also offers less. At least until the V30. My point is, people have rose-tinted glasses on when they say that LG software is good. I'd argue that they're the worst manufacturer when it comes to software. Most brands have lighter skins than LG and Samsung's is heavier but offers more and doesn't have the history of brick in phones that LG's does and their apps are generally really good.
