Seems like V30 is going to be the best phone

V30 and Note 8 won't have great battery life at all, if you light user or medium than maybe, i would expect all high-end phone to beat the Mate 9 at least in battery life, nope, won't happen.

V30 front camera is a big insult, that one of the reason for me to not buy this phone, mine Mate 9 has a great front shooter, V30 rear camera quality isn't always that better than S8, not even in low light, other than that the phone seems good.

Note 8 is a great phone, but i'm unsure how battery will hold and it's way too expensive for what it's offer, secondary camera isn't great at all.

Essential phone is the worst phone i seen this year, there is NOTHING good with it, plus it gets very slow when you load more than couple of apps, as one of youtube testers showed, avoid this phone like the plague.

We will see the Mi Mix 2 this week, Note 3 and Mate 10 next month, then we can all decide which is the best phone, however there is no best phone, each of us has different uses, as for me , no phone can rival the Mate 9.
My now 4 day old note 8 gets better battery life than any phone I have owned including S7 edge and iPhone 7 plus. And that is with heavy use.

I am a fan of both and I bought all Samsung s and note series, I started LG from g4, but g4 camera quality was worse than s6/s6 edge, V10 so far was the worst camera since 2015 among all flagship phones!!! g5 was good but still wasn't good as S7/S7 edge , v20 was even worse but still better than V10, g6 was so far the best camera phone among LG phone, so I am expecting v30 be better. the features on paper are always good for LG but the performance aren't.

Nope. I have yet to see the v30 beat anything on the note 8 other than sound quality of the dac.

Well a lot of people who love LG's Wide Angle Camera will say it clearly beats the the Note 8 there for starters. Then there's the FPS placement and if the V30 feels anything like the G6 then it'll be far nicer to hold than the Note too. People who take photography seriously will tell you the V30 blows the Note away when it comes to manual controls for stills and videos

How can people tell you anything when LG hasn't released the damn phone yet?

Seriously hurry up LG!

Hmm, so those who love zoom lens will say Note 8 beats V30? That's totally individual's preference right

Having a different lens format doesn't make one better or worse...just different. For practical purposes with regular cameras you have more options especially with a DSLR. In this case your are limited to choosing between wide and telephoto. The best one is the one that suits your needs. In my case the wide angle suits me better and is more useful for the type of shots I take.
I look at it this way.... Telephoto is nice but if you don't have it at least you can zoom in or crop to the level that is still acceptable in terms of resolution. If you don't wide angle, you can't fake it except to back up from the subject if practical. I'm not saying one is better, but one may be better for you. The nice thing about having the Tele lens is that you can simulate depth of field but I don't feel the need for it.
Maybe the V40 will have 3 cameras and put the argument to rest.

PAST being the operative word there. Unless the V30 has bootloop/software issues (unlikely) there's no need to judge the V30 negatively based on past generations issues. And I like the light skin of the V20. I've owned several Samsung's prior and I prefer LG's IU and light skins much better. I heavily customize everything with a launcher, icons, widgets anyways. But when I jump on my gf's S8+ for a minute ... F**k! I'm jumping all over the place to find stuff I find in a snap on the LG. Beautiful phone though. I just hate the bloated, and illogical TouchWiz

THIS!!^^

I like LG's UI/OS as well! It runs beautifully without any hiccups for MY USE! What I really love about it is that 6 months in and its STILL running smooth unlike others. Love the liteness of LGs UI!

That has been my experience with the G5 and V20 unlike all my prior Droids. To be fair though the processors in these phones are much better at running lag free.

If the V30 was 16x9, I would dump my 8+ for it. Sadly another 18x9 device. 6” 18x9 has too thin of portrait mode for me.

It's pretty wonderful in my opinion. People hate anything different. No wonder Apple released the same phone every year.

I'm hoping this craze quickly passes. I've had the S8 Plus, S8 and the LG G6 and that's been enough for me to crave 16:9 screens again

I'm on the other side of the coin. I really like the new ratio
