Send a complaint to Google Play about Nexus 7 shipping

People always want to be the first to have something... I've never understood it. What's a couple of days going to make different? It really does blow my mind. Some people come into this world thinking that other people owe them something. Google doesn't owe anybody . There was no official release date. They have not broken their word AT ALL. The only thing wrong with this launch was that Google Wallet did not allow you to modify your order once it was placed.

THIS LAUNCH WAS NOT BOTCHED BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE BROKE THE RULES

GET OVER YOURSELF AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

By somebody do you mean everybody broke some imaginary sales ban?

what's the excuse about the N7 Cases?

Pay for two-day shipping when it wasn't shipped to coincide with launch date, which is by far the norm in this industry and in others (even book preorders are sent out that way). The shipping was rather pricey for the weight class but we took it because we expected to it either on the date of, or before, street release as is industry practice. That's certainly why people usually tolerate higher-than-normal shipping costs on preorders. Instead Google didn't even have them READY to ship on release, for most people their cards weren't even charged by then!

And then they go using that two-day shipping to ship on a Friday, completely negating the point of two-day shipping to begin with.

You do realize that we would greatly prefer to go pick it up at a store, right? Because then we'd already have it.

I'm mostly going by what I quoted.

Also, if they never stated that the item would be shipped to you and in your hands by launch day, that means you assumed that would be the case.

As far as the cost of shipping, I'm not going to argue if it's to much or not, but, once you saw the cost, if you thought it was too much, you didn't have to pay it. Why would you? Because you thought they would be the only ones selling it for the first week or whatever? If you felt the s/h cost too much, don't pay for it. wait for a local store to get it. but again, I don't remember hearing them saying that you would get the item before anyone else. I could have missed that.

Haha, oh man, completely over your head--fanboy alert! I bet you defended everything Nintendo did back in the day, too!

Fanboy? Really? Do I know you? Or you, me?

You're saying I'm wrong for expecting common industry practice behind pre-orders and their general purpose in the marketplace. You're either a fanboy or have Asperger's and are unable to grasp the concept of social (and economic) norms and expectations; there's a whole world of communication that is not immediately and explicitly verbal.

Good luck with your Asperger's syndrome, I wish you the best.

Also, I'm glad I don't know you, and I never will, because I have quality standards.

My first post was about people complaining about being charged for shipping for pre ordering while people who bought from Gamestop weren't. My response was, why would people going to pick up their item be charged shipping.

How did we end up talking about your standards I don't know.

We already explained it to you--we were charged for two-day yet shipping was on Monday which negates the purpose, and we accepted the shipping charges since industry practice (the commonly-accepted idea behind a "pre-order") is that you reserve a copy to get when they're first made available so you don't have to wait. We paid the premium, yet we still have to wait until Google decides when to ship them out -past- release.

I just wasted my time with the above paragraph because I literally just went above and beyond the capabilities of your limited cognition.

At the risk of sounding like a petulant child, I wrote a letter of complaint to Google Play Customer Service.

"That's unacceptable.

I tried to cancel my order on July 6th. Yet, nothing was done. On July 10th, after not receiving a reply, I called Google Play customer Service. I was told that my pre-order could not be cancelled because it was already being processed and ready for shipping. It is now July 14th, and I have yet to receive any shipping information. That could only mean that my order was not ready at all.

I want my order cancelled immediately. This is not a new cancellation request, this goes back to my original request on July 6th, before my order was shipped. I do not want to deal with Google Play, or UPS. Since this was an error on your part, you should have to deal with UPS. I do not want to put a sign saying return to sender, and then wait for several weeks to get my money back. I do not want to contact UPS. Your incompetence means that my money, and order are left in limbo, while the Nexus 7 stocks the shelves of local retailers.

I'm fed up with Google Play. Cancel my order. Deal with UPS yourselves. I do not want to deal with Google Play or UPS"

I ordered my device at around 1 am, on June 28th. I haven't received any shipping information, nor has my credit card been charge. Keep in mind, I live in Ontario, Canada. Most local retailers already have the Nexus 7.

I underhand that. The question was, why would someone picking the item up from a store themselves, be charged shipping? Which I thought was part of the complaint in the link provided.

LOL:)

This should help clear things up for him. The Wikipedia definition of a pre-order.

"A pre-order is an order placed for an item which has not yet been released. The idea for pre-orders came when people found it hard to get popular items in stores due to their popularity. Companies were then given the idea to allow people to reserve their own personal copy, before the release, which has been a huge success. Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate delivery on release"

The key point being:

Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate delivery on release

Yesterday was the release. Google has confirmed they gave the go-ahead. Many people's pre-orders have not been shipped. Therefor they failed to provide a pre-order. The end.

I spoke to a csr rep about an hour go after being on hold 20 minutes. Was told ups has them on pallets and they are the ones shipping and sending the emails. Unfounately there are so many they are unable to do them in any kind of FIFO order so if you ordered on July 3 you may get lucky and have yours shipping already and for those of us who ordered day one if your not on a luky pallet, you just have to wait it out. So It seems like blame goes to google for not specifying which ones go out first.

Most of what the CSRs say is hard to trust, but this sounds absolutely true and would explain a lot.

#1... I have an Asus Netbook. Its an iron workhorse.
#2... Asus is made in Taiwan. Last time I checked, Taiwan is a democracy and not a slave labor camp.
#3... Google is one of the best companies out there.
#4... By pre-ordering, you are guaranteed a 7. All retailers are sold out. Anyone wanting one now will have to wait until August, (probably longer).
#5... The market is no where near being saturated. By Google doing what they are doing now, they will control the tablet market.
#6... Google will be the only competitor left standing against Apple.
#7... Google will win.
#8... Patience is a virtue.
#9... You could have gambled and lost.
#10... If you pre-ordered... you were guaranteed to win.

#11 wasn't necessary in any way, shape, or form.

#4 is not true at all (as can be seen by people walking into stores off the street and buying them today).

Stop being a tool. "Get a life"? Why are you posting on a web page at 5:11 PM on a Friday? Just because people want to find out what other people are experiencing with this launch doesn't mean they don't have a life.

Google is counting on this kind of excitement for their launch. To all of the people who are saying that Google never promised delivery of pre-orders on launch day, that is a reasonable expectation. If you ask most people if they would expect to get a pre-ordered product on the day it was available in stores (or earlier), they would say yes. It doesn't matter if they didn't promise that. Is the world going to end if I don't get mine until next week? No. But, it would have been nice to get it Monday or so, considering I ordered on the 27th in the morning, the day it went on the page for pre-order.

I called Google, just because my credit card company was confused and didn't even show a pre-authorization for the Nexus 7. They said it was fine and would be shipped Monday or Tuesday. I do find that annoying in that people who pre-ordered after me are getting shipping numbers. And, I KNOW that nowhere did Google promise FIFO on orders, but it's bad when AT&T delivers on that promise with their SGS III launch. I got mine on launch day, because I pre-ordered immediately.

I'm not so upset about the whole retail availability issue. I am more upset about the fact that I ordered on the 27th, the 16gig and a case, and mine has yet to be shipped. Google is not sending these things out in the order that the order was received as they should be. I spoke with an entirely unhelpful customer support earlier and they said that I have to give them 3-5 days to process all the orders...They've had my order for 2 1/2 weeks already, I should have been one of the first batches to be shipped. What is the point of paying for 2 day shipping when the ship data can be anywhere up to 5 days after the release date, and apparently not in a first come first served order.

Sorry, but #4 is in error......Sam's still have them in stock.....maybe you should get your facts straight before you start telling people to "get a life"......

I started to not put 11 in. My apology.
Reading all of the gripes made me a little mad as I think of the kids in Afganistan. We have become an impatient, spoiled society.
I just hope we dont pay a price for it.
The kids overseas are paying a price now.

Is that why Sams has stopped selling them?
It depends on the location of the store.
Location, location, location.
If your in the right location then, you can lord it over those who are sucking their thumbs right now. As many are in case you missed it. Dont like what Google is doing?... dont buy their products. Google stood up to Red China. Apple is in bed with them.
