Send a complaint to Google Play about Nexus 7 shipping

To me, defending Google on this is ridiculous. They should be called out. And if I didn't do it, I'd consider myself as brainless as any die-hard Apple fanboy who excuses anything and everything Apple does.

If you're stick up for Google screwing over people who paid more, you're just a green robot version of an iFan. Sorry.

Not angry at gamestop. Gamestop is known for this. Just confused about how someone defending the actions of Gamestop (not you) is screaming about how much Google botched the launch and how there is a lack of communication when it's crystal clear there is no lack of communication.

I pre-ordered the device
I got confirmation that my email was received
I have the pending transaction on my credit card
Once it is processed I'll get an email with a tracking number.

Just like every other pre-order in the history of pre-orders. The only time you get "communication" from a company about a pre-order is if there is a delay, which there wasn't in this case.

The only reason gamestop factors into the equation is because people think it proves something, which in my first post I said it didn't. the inability to believe this is why it keeps coming up. Gamestops orders have NO bearing on playstore orders. Never have, never will. (as in, just because gamestop got the devices already doesn't mean this delayed the play store shipping)

WHY DO YOU KEEP LYING???Gamestop IS NOT known for this. Bestbuy was known for this.

Where did they drop the ball? What in your scenario can't be explained by them saying "hold off the release date a few days" and the companies ignoring them?

Quite frankly, I would have loved for Google to have been utterly honest about the credit. Go watch the Keynote. You can't help but get the impression that you needed to order through Play for the $25 credit.

I feel chapped for paying $21.47 more than I should have when I could have just picked up on the way home from Staples for the same MSRP as Play.

Google eats the lower margins from its retail partners and screws over anybody who orders from their own store. Nice.

Where is Google screwing anyone? Your entire argument is based on the fact that they took pre-orders KNOWING that gamestop would sell the device before Google shipped play-store pre-orders. You have yet to provide ANY evidence backing that claim.

I watched the keynote. They said that the Nexus 7 would ship with a $25 credit. they didn't say "the nexus 7 from our playstore would have a $25 credit. YOU made the assumption. That's not their fault.

Enough of this bad argument. GameStop is not the only store selling them today. Walmart/Sam's does not break street dates. It is far too easy for them to just disable registers from ringing certain things gas up. There was clearly no order from Google to not sell these.

You're right. Silly us for misreading their clearly leading comments.

If people are smart, they'll remember this lesson the next time around and reward Google with significantly fewer pre-orders. Clearly Google wants to make less money and is willing to accept lower profits through their retail partners.

Like I said. Lesson learned.

By the way, it's not just me. Look at the Google+ post and how many complaints there are. Apparently, most of the non-Fanboy world does seem to think they got jipped.

Ebuyer in the UK. Staples here in Canada. Adorama in New York. Somehow, I can't see that many partners all breaking the street date without some mix up at the top.

I'm pretty sure there will be nothing else worth pre ordering from Google. I'd be shocked if they took on another venture and their nexus phones aren't really that special.

Nexus 7 arrives: here's where you can buy it right now (update: Google Play orders now shipping) | The Verge

relavent part:

Adorama: Sales stopped at Google's request

Ebuyer: Listing has now been switched back to pre-order. Availability expected 7/19. 16GB

So yes, there was an order, as other companies are following it.

As for sams and walmart. a quick Google search will show you stories of people getting product at BOTH locations early.

First and foremost I am a consumer.

As a consumer, I only see one thing today and that is that Google has not delivered their own product through their own retail system and Gamestop, an outside company has.

I know nothing about violating Google rules or such. I just know that many Gamestop Pre-Order customers have their Nexus in their hands and Google?s own customers do not. I could give a flip whether or not they followed some Google rule or not. Fact is, Google should have shown loyalty to their direct buying customers and not allowed this fiasco to occur. If Gamstop is so notorious as a poor partner, then why did Google choose them for one?

I could act like an Apple Groupie (BARF!) and act all starry-eyed and in awe of the High Exalted Google and pat myself on the head and say everything is alright, but choose not to. I?m too much of a realist and a consumer that demands what is best for my purchasing dollars.

My real issue with Google is really not product delivery, but the deafening silence from them and the ill-informed customer service reps who they leave high and dry to ad-lib answers on something they know nothing about. They are hanging their own phone reps out to be gorged by all the frustrated callers this has generated.

Google should have carefully crafted, talking points and a consistent, truthful message regarding ship dates and they have clearly done neither.

Google should not have jumped into the direct sales of hardware before they put the appropriate support infrastructure in place.

Ebuyer and Adorama both stopped sales at the request of Google. Haven't heard about staples SELLING them so I can't confirm if they stopped. Google (the search engine) is your friend.

What misleading comments. Your argument boils down to "I thought they meant this, and when it turned out they didn't mean that, I got angry."

Give me some quotes. I watched the event, Live and then again once it was posted to youtube. I didn't get that impression AT ALL and neither did anyone I know who pre-ordered.

In my opinion, the proper thing Google could have done is once others started selling them, Google should have broke street date and shipped theirs right away instead of asking the retailers to stop selling.

You speak of silence... WHERE IS THIS SILENCE?

Seriously? when has any company, in the history of pre-orders, given you daily updates on the status of your order?

Google put up a post and an automated response within HOURS of this story breaking. Where is the silence?

There is no support structure failing. Retail chains getting product before it ships is NOT new. Companies breaking street dates IS NOT NEW. Why are you pretending it is?

Gamestop breaks street date on friday. Google ships devices on Friday.

Shipping them last night (assuming they could turn that fast) would not get them here appreciably faster.

You guys are making monsters out of fleas.

I can sympathize with those who preorder online and have not received them. Past online preorder experiences with video games, not hardware, I have always found when I preorder online I receive my purchase a day or two later. Not sure if this is due to the retailer or the shipping company. With that experience I decided to order the Nexus 7 in store at GameStop in hopes of not only save on shipping but also receive it on release day.

Preordered from GameStop in store last week, 7/3/12, and received today. Again I made my preorder decision based on past online preorder experiences.

If they shipped them last night I would have gotten mine today. It only takes one day to get to me using 2 day shipping from the hub its coming from.

On another note, my credit card is not charged yet so they will not even be shipping today.
