Sense home screen disable-able

So nowmy question is....would it be easier for htc, sprint and google to produce a update for the Evo since we cn operate on Vanilla Android???

Can some one describe this video? I am blocked at work :(

Does it really turn off Sense, or just the SENSE HOME UI? I am going to assume it's just like on the Hero. It's not really ASOP Vanilla... Still a black bar up top, Browser is still full screen (no notification area), etc.

Either way, Oj Mayo (I just threw up in my mouth), it'll still be a while before Sense devices get 2.2 (FroYo) since they would still need to integrate the ROM update with Sense UI, they won't release two separate updates.

One of the few things I was not looking forward to about the Evo was the inability to disable Sense UI, or at least the home screen -- a limitation foreshadowed by the Incredible. But according to this Phandroid Evo 4G Hands-On, a Sprint presenter demoing the Evo was asked if the Sense home screen could be disabled, and he replied that it could. That should tide us stock Android fans over until Cyanogen builds a Senseless rom.

Wooot, I think I will like sense, but its nice to know it can be turned off so easily.

I know it's been beat. But why stock Google?
If I had say the Moment it would be OK but I just don't see turning off SenseUI.

I think having the ability to turn it off is a great feature. Sometimes, you just need a change. The change can simply come by turning Sense off, and having a different look, and it will be like a whole new device.

Personally, I would take advantage of that ability

This. What is up with people wanting to turn it off so badly?
I'm equally puzzled by why people want Sense. I've never been a fan of third-party interfaces like Sense, Motoblur, TouchWiz, etc.; though I'll admit that Sense has vastly improved from the TouchFlo days (I had the Vogue, where TF made stock WM look good by comparison). I'm an Android fan, and I want to use Android, not Sense.

It really comes down to personal preference. As far as the "so badly" part, that has more to do with HTC making it increasingly difficult to turn it off, particularly on the Incredible. The more something is denied, the more people want it.

Sense is the whole reason I switched from the Droid to the Incredible. It provides an intuitive, feature-rich user interface, that stock Android fails to provide. It takes the OS to the next level and provides consumer appeal to a wider audience, that doesn't have to install 13 apps and a custom ROM to get the thing looking good.

Regarding the topic at hand, Phil posted an article about this on the front page today.

OK, I have to admit I've been looking at some threads with homescreen screenshots and they're may be something to this.

It can make for a very clean look, coming from a Pre I'm used to a spartan homescreen and kind of like it.

If Sense is turned off can some of the HTC widgets be used?
Does the number of screens change? 7 is kind of a lot anyway.
I may try it this way.

Why not leave sense on and remove all the HTC widgets? You get a better phone dialer, messaging app, bigger caller ID pictures, and Facebook integration with contacts.

I'll have to play it to see how everything works before I make a "permanent" decision.
As permanent as any of my theming gets anyhow.
I thought turning off sense only affected the home screen and launcher(?).
The google dialer is hideous.

I would do it just to change things up a bit. I love customizing my phone, so every option I get is a plus to me.

lol, Im hoping that sprint will push for the update for the Evo being that its their flagship phone.
