Sense or Non-Sense Rom?

I have just unlocked my boot loader (after having HTC one X for 7 months) and am willing to try new ROMs.

The things I am looking for are Good Battery and Responsive UI. I am not worried about themes and other flashy mods. Also, I would like to have JB 4.2.x on my phone, as that would bring lockscreen widget to the phone, which I think would be helpful to my professional life (emails and all). That is the reason why I am inclined to AOSP/AOKP Roms (without sense obviously for 4.2.x)

Now, all I am worried about after having AOSP ROM flashed are:
  1. HTC camera features (HDR, Slow motion, Pano, Quick Burst, Group Photo, Photo while recording video etc.) being lost. Is this true or is the latest android camera up to the mark?
  2. Dropbox 25GB space. Am I going to retain that or will that be taken away from me for not using sense?

There is no other Sense feature which I think I am going to miss; or am I?

Either JellyBam or CyanogenMod are very good AOSP ROM's. I was using CM 10.1 and everything worked fine for me. No issues and it was not a stable build. I loved it. I just happened to break my One X this weekend so I upgraded to the X+ for the time being until the One is released. Currently running ViperXL+ ROM since the CM 10.1 ROM for the X+ is still missing many key features. After using both I would still choose and AOSP ROM everytime. Once you get that 25GB from Dropbox you will not lose it.

Thanks for the reply gattzzz.
Do you have any inputs about the Imagesense and camera?

Like he said, jellybam is great for AOSP, loved it... viper XL is the bomb though (sense)... nothing beats it battery wise, and with the elemental kernel, it's even better performance and battery. Of course you will always get great performance out of AOSP, because it's plain Jane (which is great), but now that viper is where it is, sense is awesome

I've been on Viper XL+ for a day now and there are more tweaks and features that I ever would have imagined. You can pretty much take away the Sense feel if you really wanted to.

Exactly..Turge develops that rom and the XL rom... probably the best dev for our devices

I had been using CM 10.1 (4.2.2) for the last few weeks, and really liked it a lot. For grins I flashed Clean ROM 6 yesterday. It's pretty good, but I'll probably go back to CM. I may give Viper another go first, though. Too many choices. :D

as I understand it the imagesense chip does not work in ASOP roms but the picture quality isn't drastically effected. My recommendation, make a nandriod backup of your current situation and just load a ASOP rom and give it a week and run it through its paces and if you don't like it revert back. everything we say on here is just public opinion better off giving it a whirl yourself. Just remember to always read the OP in the rom threads for notes on bugs or non working pieces.

Although the camera on 4.2.2 has gotten better, It's no where near as good as sense camera

OK, I've decided I really prefer AOSP 4.2.2 compared to Sense 4.1, and really missed it after one day, so I loaded LiquidSmooth. Very nice ROM.

Thanks Guys for the input.
I have flashed ViperX and still going through the tweaks.

I will like to use an AOSP rom in another week or so, just to get the hang of it. and I might stick to it if the battery is better :)

I have a few questions about Viper XL+, if you don't mind. I have an AT&T HTC One X+, and I'm interested in this rom. Because it's a Sense rom, does it include the flip clock with weather animations? Is the camera software as good, with the ability to take pictures while recording a video? Lastly can I disable LTE? Being able to disable LTE is going to be important to me because I'm going to travel to Europe for a couple of months, and don't want the battery to drain due to different frequencies.
