Seriously thinking of going back to my BlackBerry Storm...

email on a BB is just better still, plain and simple

I agree.

AOL was a joke. My wife is a paralegal setting at a desk and email is best for her.

I have premium yahoo acct and did the forward to gmail thing for a bit.

Main gripe is not bein
g able to pick how i delete my mail.

I agree. And the AOL thing was hyperbole.

It can be frustrating finding all the little things that Android won't do that blackberry does. If yahoo email on the go is the biggest reason for you to have a smart phone, then I think you'll be happier back with RIM.

Just FWI, you can't forward Yahoo email unless you pay for the premium yahoo email, so that rules out forwarding to Gmail.

You don't have to pay if you go to My Account>Set language, site, and time zone>YahooAsia and then go to your Forwarding settings and set it up to forward to a gmail account, that is exactly what I do b/c all of my accounts are linked to yahoo also. It works like a charm :D (apparently you don't have to pay for Yahoo Mail Plus in Asia)

Alternatively you can do the Yahoo Asia setting, and then input the port settings for the yahoo account into the HTC mail client on the Inc, just like you would do in Thunderbird or another mail client on your computer. Mail comes directly there. Pretty handy. ;)

...Unless I'm missing something, on 3 Incredible's I have set up, I've had the option to delete the emails from the server or just the phone. Now I don't know if Yahoo is what's causing the grief or if it's just a matter of you looking in the wrong place for this setting.

Now, unfortunately, out of those three phones, none are mine. Mine's sitting in a factory somewhere waiting to be ready for shipment. However, I can check the path to the option for you tomorrow...

BTW, 2 of the phones were using K9 mail, and one using the HTC mail app.

That's not exactly true, because I didn't have 2way sync with my gmail when I had the storm.

Android + gmail is better than bb + gmail
you have 2 way sync with gmail on BB now. I forget what BIS upgrade gave us this.

every email setup is a little different, some have this and others dont i think. Also you don't have the "option" every time you delete and email like you do on BB. I kinda like having the option on deleting off both device and server or just on the device.

Yes, on blackberry (such as my Storm) you can have it prompt you on EVERY message as to how you want it deleted, which is rather annoying IMO. However, you can preset on BBs as to what choice you want. Therefore when you hit 'Delete' it will perform a 'Default' option.

This is the same thing I was referring to with the Incredible. You can set it to Delete from server (which means server + handheld) or just handheld. I have seen this option with Hotmail and Roadrunner.

Unfortunately I do not have a Yahoo account so I can't test it in the exact scenario needed, however, I can at least get the path to the option...again this would be for K9.

right i know that. but you cant prompt you for each email. on the BB you could set it and forget it or you could have it prompt you. the key thing is you could CHOOSE for every email and on the android you have to go into settings every time you want to change it.

gmail is a complete sync with the google cloud. it syncs on your phone if you delete from PC and visa versa

one think i find pathetic about the gmail app is lack of copy and paste. that is complete stupidity imo

Back to a Storm? Sounds like madness. Being a Gmail user, I can't imagine a possible scenario where my Storm will outperform a DInc.

Thats just plain nuts. The Incredible blows the doors off my Storm, and I spent alot of time updating OS on my Storm and doing everything I could to keep it functional. The Storm was a waste of my time and money.

The only thing I meant the Storm was better at was the email....oh and predictive text. I miss the way the Storm automatically capitolizex certain letter n inserted apostrophies n such...

The Inc blows the Storm away in every other aspect. I was just blowing steam more than anything.

Forward your email to a gmail account. Authorize it that way when you reply it shows to the receiver as your yahoo mail account. Get Swype great predictive text, auto capitalization, and put in apostrophes and such.

The thing with an Android phone is you can change stuff around and make it do what you want. You just need to explore and find your options. If you are going back to the BB Storm let me know I want your phone.

The Incredible is ten times the unit the Storm is in every way but email. I still think BB beats Android on email. I DO NOT like gmail and want to use my Yahoo mail...been with that account for over 12 years and EVERYTHING is tied to it.

I have been trying both Maildroid and Seven Beta to usemy Yahoo mail but neither works as well as oem BB set up. With the BB mail I can choose to delete mail off of the phone, or the server or both. Cannot do that as far as I can see with Incredible.

Neither Seven nor Maildroid has been reliable for PUSH for me either. Sometimes a message willgo right thru, other times it takes minutes or hours!

My wife and I work different shifts and email is how we talk to each other. I need email that is right there, right now. ANd I either need to be able to delete off phone and save on server or have access via the phone to my various yahoo folders.

Any tips to help keep me using the Incredible?

I say go back to your blackberry

Don't let the door hit you in the @ss on the way out. I still have my Storm and am waiting for my Inc.

Damn! Such nice people in here! LOL. I think the funniest part of all this is that there are a few in here that simply refuse to read everything before typing those witty replies....

That's what I did, although I set it to forward to Gmail instead of accessing it directly like that. Works like a charm!

Wow. I dont even have my Inc yet (still using my Storm1) and I couldnt imagine for any reason wating to go back....especially not for frickin email. Jeez people.
