Set text tone to silent for certain contacts

So I have a few contacts, such as Twitter and ESPN that I don't need to hear a tone for each time. I'd like to set their tone to silent, like I had on my iPhone. Is there a way I can do this? Whenever I go into add another field>messaging tone there is no "silent" for me to select. Please let me know!

You can set them as contacts, go into the individual contact and select silent as your alert. Works perfectly for me and CNN updates I get!

Download the a short MP3 with no sound (which I'm assuming is what telrod11 linked).
Save that to your phone; either phone's memory or via SDCard.
Now go through the notifications and change the notification ton to that silent MP3.

I have had the same issue, but I also am brand new to this world coming out of being a long time blackberry user. I can't believe silent would not already be an option and that it would need to be this complicated - makes no sense. Grr
