[SGSIII][Sprint] Android Central Rom and Kernel Library

Mumm stupid question... what is twrp????? Will I need it if I want to try cynogen 10??

Twrp stands for team win recovery project. It is nothing more than a custom recovery much like cwm. They both flash Roms, make backups, restores and wipes.

They pretty much do the same thing but each has something the other doesn't. Try them both and see which one works best for you.

A new Rom being released today but you won't have to go to xda to get it. I will be hosting the thread right here at Android Central. It does not have all the bells and whistles that the Team Sonic Rom has. But it is a very stable themed Rom.

So if what you want, is a themed Rom that just plain works without any trouble, you should give "Wicked Sensations" a try. The thread should be posted later today in the "Sprint Galaxy S3 Rooting, ROM's and Hacks" forum.

Update: Team Sonic's new update v0.0.6 now has WiFi Tethering toggle on the notification bar. I am downloading now and will report if it's working.

Edit 2: The Blazer ROM also now has embedded WiFi tether.

I didn't notice the wifi tether embedded with the Blazer ROM. I downloaded the app separately. Am I missing something in the settings where I wouldn't need the app?

Also, am I fine running the stock kernel with this or should I look into getting something else?

Stock kernel is really about the only choices you have. I think there is tethering toggle in the notification bar. Not sure on the blazer Rom. As i won't run it.

I've used it before on previous phones and had no problems with it. It seems real touch and go on this phone when I try and tether to my Nexus 7. Sometimes I get booted off with the error "what the hell..." I was only asking because you mentioned it in your post. I thought maybe there could have been conflicting programs running or something.

Did you set it up as a galaxy nexus with cdma/lte ?

On the topic of WiFi tether the toggle in team Sonics rom uses the Sprint hotspot. Is there a way to use the WiFi tether so instead? I read in xda if you hide the Sprint hotspot it will use the other one but still no give.

As far as I know, just open the Wi-Fi Tether app and use it and don't turn on the notification toggle. I don't toggle as my home broadband is over 20mbs down.

Hey Skunk, I have a question about flashing the Team Sonic ROM. I watched the video and it looked all straightforward but on the website it talks about Aroma and TWRP. Do I need to use those methods or flash like any other? They weren't mentioned in the video.

From what I understand the developer just doesn't support cwm so if you have a problem the dev won't help you as he uses twrp . The aroma installer is just the thing that installs the rom and let's you change the settings and what not

You will flash it just like any other Rom. But when it starts installing, aroma will automatically open and you will be given choices to choose from. It's really pretty easy.
