[SGSIII][Sprint] Android Central Rom and Kernel Library

I haven't been on a touch wiz Rom since stock. I'm getting a notification from Sprint saying there's an update. If I update, will I lose root access? Sorry ahead of time if this has already been asked.

You should be safe. When you accept the update it should restart in recovery and fail. Just restart your phone and you shouldn't see the update again.

Another question when going to a kernel. Do you flash it the same way a rom? Wipe cache, dalvik cache and then install kernel. Or simply just install?

His do you flash AOSP ROMs?? Also, what I've read it says its the same basically as doing CM10, so do we use the same GAPPS that we would if it was CM10???

You would flash those the same way as you would cm rooms. The op should provide a link to the proper gapps package. If not it should at least tell you where to get them.

So they should already have a kernel??
I'm wanting to try the official sprint release. Do I have to flash the firmware that is posted as well??

All roms for the gs3 have kernels. You can replace them by flashing a different one. But all roms for the gs3 have kernels.
You do not have to flash the firmware, but it is the modem/radio. So if you want the newer radio, you need to flash both.

Hey is there a reason why, no matter the ROM I install, the phone constantly loses connection with when moving away from towers?
Right now on my stock rooted GS3 the phone does a great job of maintaining a data connection and switching from 4G to 3g, but it's only in stock. On ROMs it will lose connection for a while as if it can't decide what tower to chose and it takes a while to get a data connection en

Lol... I've never noticed that. I'm never on a stock Rom.

Skunk. I chose to install now (the update) while still in my rom to get it to stop sending me notifications. It booted into recovery like you said it should. I then powered off and powered back on. It's like 3 days later and I just got the notification again :/ is there another way to stop it?

You have to also choose to install it. But I have already posted a zip you can flash somewhere in the forums that will also stop it. When I can get on a real computer I will post it here. Just keep checking this thread and I will get it for you.

Here ya go. I had it on my phone so I uploaded it to dropbox. Just flash it in recovery. No need to wipe anything.

The first one did but it has since been fixed... why would you even worry about that? Even if it still did, the fix is just to reflash team epic root from recovery.
