Shadow/Xtreme/Extreme is Confusing

So all this confusion with the name is it basically code names for different carriers? or have they changed the name throughout development?

I'm just wondering because the Forum says Shadow but people say Verizon will be getting the Xtreme... What's up with the different names?

Shadow is moto codename for it while its still in development... Xtreme is the Verizon branding of it when it comes out for them. This is the same as when before the Droid came out it was called the Sholes internally at Moto but once landed on Verizon it name changed to Droid and also change to Milestone on other carriers.
